All the streetlights are on now and have been on for at least 10 minutes. Any room in the house is now in complete darkness. Just been out and its not very nice at all. Its wet, very dull and foggy in the distance. You can even see your own breath out there it feels like its 4pm in December. You know how when you see a crime thriller on tv the surroundings are often very depressing and gloomy (to add atmosphere). Well its just like that right now here.

Brrr... I just went outside to see what all the fuss was about and the air had a noticeable cooling effect on my skin. It was as though the entire mass of air in the vicinity of my house was gently moving sideways. Also, I can't see the Sun anymore as it's so low in the sky that it appears to have disappeared underground! 
I hope it comes back tomorrow.

And no im not obsessed Joe. Im simply stating the facts.
It doesn't take a genius to work out that if youre having to put a lamp on to read a book or simply see around the house, at 8pm, in northern england, in the middle of May, over an hour before sunset, then its going dark a lot earlier than normal for the time of year. I may also add that my room faces north west and at this time of year on a sunny evening it is lit up brighter than strobe lights in a nightclub. You certainely dont need a light on in there till well past sunset. Not like that tonight though. Tonight it was gloomier than the set of a gritty crime thriller. Theres more to it than just the earths rotation as you can see.

Yeah, imagine if it stayed pitch black all day tommorow. Everyone would be thinking its still the middle of the night lol and thier clocks and alarms were malfunctioning.
If you want to get technical about it at the time of your post it was actually civil twilight in most locations in the uk. It isnt "night" as soon as the sun goes down, we call it "twilight".

Since you know all of this, why does it come as any surprise to you every day? Why do you consider it noteworthy, let alone "crazy", as your numerous threads would suggest?
When the Sun comes up tomorrow, as you know, it won't be instantaneously daylight either. And as the morning progresses the temperature will gradually build, similar to how it does every. single. day.

Perpetual daylight, yeah whatever, you still get at least 2 hours of astro twilight at the moment, I'd hardly call that "daylight".

Yup. Same here. Nearly 30 minutes after the sun disappeared behind the horizon and still light. Love this time of year.

I don't have astronomical twilight. I was in Stansted on Wednesday night and it was dark by 9:15.
It's 9.56 here and the sun has just about set. England may have somewhat similar daylight hours to us but our daylight is staggered more to the end of the day rather than the morning.
