Can't believe it... it's not even 3 p.m. and it's getting very gloomy here already. I'm gonna have to have to put the lights on the ceiling.
Lol stupid autocorrect..

It is ironic that we had a referendum on EU membership but now some want us to adopt their timezone even though our day length throughout the year is based on our geographical location on the planet.
Apart from Spain and France, every other country that adopts CET (and CET+1 from end of March to end of October) are in their natural timezone based on their geographic location.

It's going to be very dark in my house over the couple of weeks as I'm having my roof completely re-tiled.. So today scaffolding is being put up as I type blocking the daylight coming in.

I cant believe someone has started a thread about it being dark early in November.
It happens every year and has done since the Earth formed.
I give up...

It's 7am and light already! It really does get bright early in Norwich!

Sunrise back in NI is 8:10am so quite a substantial difference.

Tbh, I think it would benefit south/East England but can't see it working anywhere else. Their sunrise/sunset times are completely different to the rest of the British Isles.. Sometimes by more than an hour which you wouldn't think would be the case.

4:30pm and it's been a fine and sunny day but still the sun has disappeared about 15 minutes ago and it's already starting to get dark. It's lighting up time already as they say.
It's still bright past 4:30 in NI lol.. Not here though, it's dark about 4..

It's been a typical Mild, Dull, Overcast and Rainy December day here today. Went really dark at 3.30pm. Now it's 4.30pm and it's practically pitch dark! Can't see a thing outside. Gone really foggy since dusk as well. Streetlights came on at 3.50pm.

In the South perhaps...

I know our earliest sunset time is about 3:37pm each year but it's not reached that yet.

It will be no longer than 6 days

Got to be the gloomiest day of the year so far. 3pm, dark grey sky, raining, and need the lights on just to see around the house already.

3:45pm and streetlights on already. This is about the earliest they come on all year.

Ever since we've entered December I haven't seen the sun at all. Its just been soooo overcast and gloooomy all the time. I've been looking for a day to clean the light shades in the hallway but its just been too gloomy to do it.

Today is very gloomy and depressing indeed, feel really lathargic and don't feellike doing anything at all.

Yes, we know. You said exactly the same thing last year. It's not going to be any different, you know.

Same here as well. It's been at 3:47pm for a while now. By Saturday this becomes 3:48pm. However it's beginning to go dark as soon as 3:00pm here. Won't see much difference anyway as I haven't seen a single glimpse of the sun here since November, it's just been constant cloud/gloom since December begun.

Starting to get quite gloomy here in Lancashire. Not as dark as last year on Christmas Day though as that was very gloomy all day with constant sheet of blanket cloud and streetlights on by 3:15pm.
