These days, I would say AEG and Electrolux are of equal quality, which is a shame.

All part of cost cutting. And more washing machines are becoming a welded tub assembly which is probably cheaper to manufacture than the front tub, rear tub, drum and tub seal with all the bolts etc.”

Well given AEG's consumer products division went bust and was bought out by Electrolux, there's no point in buying an AEG at £ 100 more than a Zanussi - because beyond cosmetics, they're largely the same machine.

Exactly, working in the service division of white goods for these two brands (for over 15 years) helps me a lot with buying white goods, I get to see what brands fail the most....

AEG are overpriced... And the electronics are less friendly on the pocket now out of warranty as too many functions are put onto one pcb (imo).

Possibly steer clear of them in the future as I think they only manufacture them themselves for the Japanese home market. Maybe in the future will look at Sony or Panasonic as a lot of people on these forums speak highly of them especially Nigel Goodwin who seems to know what he,s talking about being in the trade.”

I have owned a sony TV for 6 years, no faults to date.

the only gripe is its only a 32" 1080i so I am looking to buy something bigger and with 1080p.

Obviously I have been looking at them first and I would say if you are on a budget, I'd look at john lewis first with their 5 year warranty.

£350/400 will get you a bottom of the range 40/42" Sony.

Costco also have a 5 year warranty but I'm not sure how much Sony stuff they stock....
