If it was a purely cynical move then 8 years ago, when Obama took office would've been the time to do it, not now.

Is he from Hollyoaks? I missed the start so was generalising in my earlier comment!

I disagree about the timing, but whatever.

I have no idea where he's from. Saw Hollyoaks mentioned and he looks right for that soap.

Matthew has a unique way of mumbling guest's names so that I only really know what he's saying if I already know the person's name

Probably because even he has trouble remembering their names.

I missed the first couple of minutes.
Vital to see any unknown guest's name come up on the screen so I can search them.

Why would they wait until now rather than ten years ago or more? Where has this idea come from that now, only right now, are "black people, cool" so let's 'fess up to our secret but only half-way through 2016? Makes no sense.

I may have missed it, but I don't think I heard Matthew mention this morning that the poll saying over 1 million people regret voting for Brexit was actually based on a poll of approx. 1300 people and they just extrapolated that figure (plus they never said where that poll was conducted). I'm sure if the situation were reversed he would be much quicker to point out the weaknesses of polls and statistics, yet he was talking as though they had actually spoken to over 1 million people to reach that conclusion.

Also, suddenly Tony Blair is a 'heavyweight' whose opinion we should listen to, when normally Matthew doesn't even try to hide his contempt for him. Matthew's going to be unbearable for ages over this, particularly if his panels continue to be so unbalanced.

ALL polls are extrapolated from a sampling. 1300 is a decent size - Many are based on far smaller amounts.

Fair enough. I don't agree that you can judge the opinion of 1 million people from 1300, but if they do Matthew should at least make it clear that is how it has been done if he's quoting it. Especially as polls have been proven to be pretty useless recently.

There is a video on social media of a so called anti fascist march, and a placard was confiscated by the police, it clearly said, 'OLD WHITE PEOPLE, PLEASE DIE' !!!!!! there were no arrests, so now anti fascists want voters to die, what has the world come to, of course this wont be in the mainstream media as it doesnt meet the criteria.

If it was a news channel they'd flash up the stats/accreditation on-screen. Needless to say TWS is not a news channel!

If that 1300 was a truly random sampling of those who voted then you can scale it up to arrive at one million.

Outers can express their remorse freely, as there's no consequence there's not going to be a re-run of the referendum, the terms of the negotiated exit will be too complicated for a yes/no referendum too, they'll have to be put to a GE

I don't know why I expected anything else of Matthew really. If he had said what it said in the paper - that 7% of those polled regretted voting leave, but 4% regretted voting remain, it would have made his argument even weaker.

I simply cannot bear much more of this - there was a democratic vote, people voted and now whinging Wrighty wants to sweep it aside because it's not the result he wanted. Tough, or as Wrighty would say, boo hoo. I rarely get my choice in general or local elections but I accept the vote of the majority and get on with my life like a grown up. These insufferable luvvies are pathetic, it is like a mass Yasmin Ali Batshit Brown style hysteria, all ranting and raving and pointedly refusing to listen or accept that people are allowed different opinions to theirs. How dare that twee ball of smug Janet Ellis imply that leavers didn't understand! Note to Matthew and guests: the public spoke loudly and in their millions; you might have been more informed about if you didn't harangue and abuse the callers whose viewpoint differs from your own.

Couldn't agree more. Particularly about endlessly smug Janet Ellis - she should realise that rather than everyone not understanding, perhaps some people just have very different lives and concerns to luvvies living in London.
