No idea who the Hollyoaks guy is but then I haven't seen Hollyoaks since Jimmy Corkhill was in it.... oh, hold on, that was Brookside, wasn't it? Let's just say, I haven't seen it for a long long time, Richard Fairbrass might still have had a career then.

Couldn't agree more. Particularly about endlessly smug Janet Ellis - she should realise that rather than everyone not understanding, perhaps some people just have very different lives and concerns to luvvies living in London.
Please don't use the L word. Don't you know it is offensive? See what Tom Conti wrote, you have been warned.

I had to google this as I didn't know what he'd said. He's just proving again how out of touch luvvies are by comparing it to racial abuse. Has Matthew done it as a talking point yet?

I simply cannot bear much more of this - there was a democratic vote, people voted and now whinging Wrighty wants to sweep it aside because it's not the result he wanted. Tough, or as Wrighty would say, boo hoo. I rarely get my choice in general or local elections but I accept the vote of the majority and get on with my life like a grown up. These insufferable luvvies are pathetic, it is like a mass Yasmin Ali Batshit Brown style hysteria, all ranting and raving and pointedly refusing to listen or accept that people are allowed different opinions to theirs. How dare that twee ball of smug Janet Ellis imply that leavers didn't understand! Note to Matthew and guests: the public spoke loudly and in their millions; you might have been more informed about if you didn't harangue and abuse the callers whose viewpoint differs from your own.
If remain had won on Friday the gloating and smugness from wrighty and ellis would have been unbearable and leavers would still have been seen as racists , bigots etc.

The mourning will continue today and wrighty is is till pushing the 'half the nation are stupid' line again today.

Ellis insufferable on this. Schoolmarmish attitude of "Britain should take its medicine".

What does she, or any well-off telly folk, care? It's not them that'll feel the worst of what's to come.

Matthew is getting more and more desperate with each caller going against him

'Never' His face is a picture and the sneering starts.

I've just remembered why I rarely ever watch this show anymore. Matt really is just an absolutely foul individual.

Good to have a representative of the nearly dead that's voted for out call in and admit she'd no good reason for doing so. Other than her racism and xenophobia, obvs...

Wow that poor woman, he must be the rudest person on TV. He must have forgotten the despair of the 80s, still it probably didn't affect him.

He will cause himself a mischief if he gets any more wound up.

Think Matthew might need blood pressure tabs at this rate, and it's nonsense he obviously lives a very different life to the 52 percent who wanted a change.

Matthew is really annoying me
He shouts down anyone who doesn't share his opinion What's the point of a discussion show if you're.nor prepared to take on board others opinions? He's downright rude and his sour grapes over the referendum is more than evident.
He and his guardianista leftie luvvie London mates are an absolute joke.

This is what you get with Matthew, people should know that by now.

You need to be able to back your position with something more substantial than meaningless soundbites.
He isn't Richard. He doesn't politely let you have your say. He'll challenge you and it probably won't be pretty.
If you can't handle it, don't ring.

She actually thought she'd done the "young" a favour, as if denying them unfettered access to live and work anywhere in Europe was a good thing!

My mother, and everyone else of her age that she knows, voted out because they're xenophobic to the point of racism. Now everything is falling apart she regrets it but make no mistake it was the innate bigotry of most pensioners that tipped the balance in this.

Hear hear.

People who use the phrase, "you can't say anything nowadays without offending someone...", are so used to privilege that they think equality for others means oppression for them because it is scorned upon to use perjoratives to describe people who are in any way different.

Not everyone who voted Leave is a bigot, but everyone who's a bigot voted Leave.

Very interesting story about the man convicted after his death.

I'd like to read more about that and the possible implications of the decision.

And that is why a lot of young people are scared to say they too bored out, oddly all the Indian and Pakistanis I know did too so obviously bigoted oh wait ..... Nope makes no sense at all calling everyone who voted leave bigoted but it's probably what Matthew thinks too.

Not what was said. This is the crux:

Not everyone who voted Leave is a bigot, but everyone who's a bigot voted Leave.
Agreed.

What on earth is going on with the site?
Posts don't update fast enough. Perhaps this will now become one of those things that's never fixed along with the search function.
