Why should you be rewarded by the benefits system for losing weight when somebody who has not become obese does not get free money?
It's like that old Chris Rock joke about people boasting about not being in jail and expecting to be credited for it, when it should be seen that not going to jail is normal. And as I said in the above post, what's to prevent people from abusing this system anyway? If I saw somebody getting more benefits than me for losing weight I might think "Fukc it, I may as well put on weight and apply for the same scheme too if it means that I get more benefit" And for how long would someone receive this benefit? Until they get to a 'normal' weight? Isn't this an incentive to try to not lose too much weight too quickly and to take as long as it's humanly possibly to stay just on the 'wrong' side of obese? Surely it would encourage people to be perpetually obese wouldn't it? Then imagine that you've lost the required weight and the government believe that it's time to stop your extra money. Then it'd be a topic on The Wright Stuff where Wright and his panel act angry and outraged that people's benefits have been cut. The reward for losing weight should be the achievement of losing the weight. Your own health. If that isn't reward enough then I don't see how a financial incentive from the government would work. You'd already have a financial reward of some sort due to the reduced cost on food bills each week. But as I say, the self-fulfillment and improvement to your life would be the real reward.

Why shouldn't. I live my life as I wish ? I've only ever needed help once when my slimmer husband had a stroke but other than less than a year we needed benefit I've worked several part time jobs each day, making a full time wage, looked after four elderly members of my family until they died, taken in four young children when their families failed them, helped in a charity for 14 years.
What in that would have been better if I had been starving myself ? I'm fat my family don't love me any less for it, I support myself and between us as a couple we've helped other people. The obsession with weight puzzles me as I am happy always have been really. |

Not a big fan of Aled Jones, but I did like the sound of big Aled singing with little Aled, although, "little Aled" sounds like the name he gives a certain body part.

I'm well aware of that. I've said as much on here myself. That doesn't excuse Matthews Politician-esque warping of the reality of his situation, to make himself seem more "Down with the working class". Most people who live in London don't go about telling people which borough they live in though rather than the actual part of the borough, unless the borough is all there is name wise. I lived in Hackney, but I lived in the actual "Hackney" part of Hackney borough. People who lived in Dalston tended to say they lived in Dalston, not Hackney Borough for example.

He seems to have done very well for himself though doesn't he? I didn't know he was still singing though obviously not in the soprano voice he had as a boy. I thought he'd given singing up after his voice broke and concentrated on presenting programmes.
As long as Primrose Hill remains in Camden he can say that's where he lives. Personally i find it all rather amusing that previous dump hole areas of London have now become sought after salubrious areas of affluence. The recipe seems simple. Start hiking up property prices and a place suddenly becomes 'desirable'! The ex-council flat up for sale at £1m summed up the madness. |

Not sure why Matthew is so shocked that certain papers have run with the Revell-Horwood rather than the Thomson rape story.
The Daily Mail will take CRH making a comment on More4 as an opportunity to print negativity about the BBC. That rag is on an endless mission. |

I liked Amanda and Richard on the panel this week. Two of the better panellists I thought.

Don't forget folks, these celebrities are the very people who the establishment wheel out to preach to us every time there's an election for something, because they're more qualified and more intelligent when it comes to telling us how we ought to live our lives and telling us how we should think. |

I'm sure I saw the MP rape story as the top story on the Daily Mail website at some point yesterday, anyone else see it?
That took a lot of guts to speak openly on camera in public but glad she found the strength to do so. I found it very moving. A very brave woman. |

Steve Furst and Katie Right-On Brand next week.
I'll make sure that I've got my crayons and notepad at hand so that I can get an adult to jot down what Katie says is right and wrong. It's easier when you don't have to think and you can find kind adults on this show who will gladly educate you about why you're a bad person. |

My favourite panelist Steve Furst is on next week, so I can just about put up with Katy Brand being on as well.
I noticed that Biggins is down for an appearance on the last show as well, so has ch5 forgiven him ![]() I remember Richard saying he will be back in January, so presumably Matthew will be taking a long Christmas break again.

I wonder if Mr and Mrs Wright will be holidaying separately again this year? Will he be taking a month to go and torture fish somewhere hot as he stiffs us with Dick to start the New Year?

Props to Brand for her "known gnomes and unknown gnomes" Rumsfeldt riff. Quality material.

Storm tweeting that she's off filming this week so Rezzy is her replacement. Saves us the bother of switching over. Thoughtful girl.

Can you imagine being married to Kerry Katona? What in God's name would possess anyone to do such a thing?
.... Hawkwind namechecked. Will he manage it every day this week? |

Who is this ex boyband clot ? Really is the king of the gobsh*ters by the way he's started. Imagine a night listening to him and keith duffy with their tales of rock and roll excess on tour ( big yawn )
You would be praying before the end they 'd start singing so to shut up their tedious blarney ! |

If only I could find a way to monetize my 4 hour pub conversations with mates, I too could be like Brian McFadden.
We are truly living in the end-times. |

"Sexist to seek husband who's an earner?"
Let's see that topic discussed for the sake of balance shall we? Brian gets dissed - Even Wrighty enjoyed that one! |

That's the least sounding "country" record I've ever heard. It's just a generic pop song - Nothing country about it.
