I'm not sure whether it's phone quality (which is mostly appalling these days - I take calls during the day and most people phone on a mobile and whatever the mobile companies make in profits, they're sure not spending it on call line quality!) or people cocking a deaf'un, but Matthew got "Pardon?" an awful lot late in the show.

Yes, one idiot had her TV on, but sometimes when I talk to my parents (although my Dad has since passed, but I still do this with Mum), I know if I start a sentence, her mind will be on something else, so to save me having to repeat my entire first sentence, I just start with "Erm...", as if I'm still focusing on what I have to say, and when I see her looking over and ready to receive the message, I THEN start my first sentence. Works every time!

Just popped this on (+1) having watched almost none of the show this week. It took 10 minutes for MW to use the "I have family member who..." trick that he loves, then on the alcoholic topic he jumped in before the first caller had finished their sentence. They held their ground which was refreshing but predictably this got his back up. So he is rude to her and dismisses her. The second caller is asked a question then another which lasts so long that there is barely any time left. This caller clearly had some personal perspective but was dismissed for not understanding what MW wants to talk about. Then the third caller is just cut off because she can't hear him. Bizarrely rude and confrontational. He really has problems. 10 minutes! He is a total pr*ck and completely incompetent at his job. I can't see me watching this show much more.

I am now finding him to be repulsive, nauseating and very unpleasant. Many days with him in the chair, I cannot watch. He is just so nasty to all including the guests. I am wondering if he has problems. He has issues. He is becoming intransigent with his views... He is right and everyone else is wrong.

My opinion on that is simple. Smart phones. They do almost everything else except send/receive decent audio. A friend of mine phoned me at home and he was in Dover. Ok so thats a couple of hundred miles away but it was barely audible. I assumed he'd got a bad signal so asked him to ring a few miles further on elsewhere. He called me back five minutes later. Different again, crystal clear. He'd swapped back and called using an old mobile or proper phone as i call them.

My son has a silly smart phone. Cost silly money but takes wonderful photos! Useless as a phone though.

Playing devils advocate takes skill and it's a skill which Wrighty just doesn't have. The male caller on the first discussion item (Queens party) made a point which Wrighty wasn't having, then got even more stroppy when the caller showed that Wrighty's argument didn't hold water. The Wrighty wriggle and face contortions became more and more embarrassing. He acts like a spoiled child.

Pardon?

Yep, I'm getting fed up of him too, and it was a disgrace the way he treated that first caller. She clearly hadn't finished her sentence yet he butted in to belittle her, and she pulled him up on it.

Unless I'm in, the only regular bit of the show I watch is Kev's TV review. If I was to catch up with any of the talking points, then by the time I get round to it, the world has moved on.

And they could spend longer on important topics but instead waste time on unimportant ones they've nicked from Mumsnet. I forget the topics Dickie covered on Monday but he wanted to spend longer on the 10.30am one, and had to stop for some rubbish they only have 5 minutes on anyway.

He is right and everyone else is wrong.

I took this off my series link over a year ago, as Wright was becoming just too obnoxious and confrontational, making it uncomfortable to watch. I caught it a few times when on holiday/home during the day but, by and large, haven't seen it for ages.

I saw a bit of the first week, only because Madeley was presenting, and part of yesterday as I was working from home. I was appalled at how he picked on the first caller on the alcoholic topic - she was an alcoholic herself, so it would have taken some doing for her to pick up the phone but he talked down to, and over, her, and to the subsequent caller (also an alcoholic).

Wright seriously is not capable of presenting a discussion/panel show - the stand in presenters (not that Hardeep tosser, obviously!) show how it should be done (Madeley/Richard Bacon/Matt whatever he's called). Nicky Campbell on 5 Live/The Big Questions is a superb example of how this format should, and can, be run.

Wright clearly doesn't enjoy the show anymore, it's written all over him, and the panelists (on the odd occasion I have seen the show in the last year) seem to have gone downhill into the 'reality' types Wright was always so scathing of.

In carrying on in a job he hates, and working with people who he's always been disparaging of, presumably just for the money, he's sold his soul (I presume he has one!) to the devil.

How long can C5 continue this show with a presenter who is just downright rude and nasty, and unprofessional? I don't know the viewing figures but they must be dropping.

He really is a most despicable character and totally unsuitable for that kind of programme. Surely he must have a condition of sorts (interrupting the callers/guests so frequently) either that or he's the rudest, most arrogant presenter ever.

He keeps harping on about the time his wife (Amelia) not long after they married, read posts about him on the internet and ended up in tears, and he told her to just Not Read Them. After she's lived with the guy for a few years, I now often wonder if she understands why people say what they do.

Who knows, she may even be one of the contributors.

So Dr David has come back because he misses his friends and family...nothing to do with not making his mark on US TV

Russell Grant looks awful, is that supposed to be designer stubble on his face

Good one

The only good thing about watching it on their website, if my recording fails for the Friday ep, is that it no longer crunches to a halt at the ad breaks and forces 5 minutes of junk on you. You can actually skip right to the part you want (often the end credits )

I have to say I disagree with Kev about Crushing because I enjoyed it but thanks to him I watched Brian Pern on iPlayer and it was great it's a shame that I don't think many people will have watched it.

Only caught todays episode on catchup. Wright was right old grumpmeister today. The autocue bod must have got a right old bollicking at the break. He looked so pissed off i thought he was going to strop off and deck whoever it was there and then.

Then we got his little socialist speech at the end of the helping shy kids with confidence topic. This coming from a guy living in primrose hill amongst all the other millionaires in the area.

His 'sore throat' has reared its head again. Will he make Friday of his second week?

And unbelievably rude to the 73 year old male caller who tried very hard to make his point but Wrighty wouldn't give the guy chance and kept talking over him. Then when the caller refused to bite Wrighty cut him off with some cocky remark and the usual "lets have the next caller".

So damn rude.

My name is Matthew Wright because i am always Wright and don't ever disagree with me.

Agreed re: Brian Pern, esp. when he told Children In Need to f-off "politely"

I thought Crashing sucked. A premise with zero interest or realism for me.

Small point unrelated to content, but it is very easy on the eyes that the panel members have coordinated their outfits today.
