Whatever his failings, I do think Mattew at least attempts to make a decent tv show every day.

The hostility towards callers, the parade of idiot special guests, the increasingly inane topics and the political bias all cripple the show and stop it being as good as it could be. It's not like these flaws are hard to see or hard to fix so we have to assume this compromised programme is the one he wants to present every day. Makes you wonder if there's anyone at Princess that has any objectivity at all about the show.

Matthew is earning a hell of a lot more to be able to afford a place in primrose hill. Will he take a paycut i wonder. Labour have been banging on about the living wage for yonks yet the tories bring it in and its all doom and gloom.

For the most part I agree.
The basic premise of The Wright Stuff makes for potentially decent viewing, the Kyle show does not, imo.
Matthew's antics make a decent show less good, which is why it is often a better show with a different host.
I think you could have anyone else host Kyle and it'd still be garbage.

That's the shame of it, isn't it? Self-sabotage hobbles this show whereas Kyle's is inherently awful from the outset.

I enjoy the format of TWS. I think the combination of panel discussions, viewer phone-ins, paper review and tv review on a Friday, is a good format.
Everything else you layer on top, panellists, topics, host's hubris, can cause each show to be good or bad... or borderline unwatchable.

The first two ad break questions have been rubbish this morning- the answers are blatantly obvious and it's all to back up Wrighty's narrative! Give us something to think about during the break!

He seems blind to that disparity especially when he tells us (as he's done many times) about how many who work on the show are unable to afford places to live in London.

If he wasn't such a blatant hypocrite half the fun on the show would be gone!

Kevin's hysterical outburst at Matthew was lol funny at the end. I liked his measured critical appreciation of the Night Manager too. The man adds a little touch of much needed class to the show sometimes.

Yes he can and its on display every single day he's on. He is shown up every time dickie or matt barbet replaces him. When he means papers its the wright wing papers like the sun and mail he doesn't like, the guardian in his world is perfect as it shares his political viewpoint yet is as biased as the rest of them. Same goes for the independent as the lovein yesterday shows.

The 'pedantic lunatic' (copyright Kev) has an agenda and he isn't very subtle with it.

Kev is the best part of the week most weeks apart from when a caller slaps wrighty down for talking bollocks when they get the chance. Next week he will definitely be the highlight.

I couldn't believe what I was reading in that article - the man is completely deluded. 'It is a genuine open conversation' he must have blocked out the memory of all the callers he has shouted over and hung up on when they didn't say what he wanted them to. His behaviour is so bizarre lately that I really think he must have other personal issues going on. He's always been a bit annoying but he's almost unbearable these days and even the panellists just sit there laughing nervously while he rants at callers.
