Sounds like an effective way to train them to agree with you when asked for their input.
Not that a member of the public in the studio audience would feel any pressure from somebody who has years of experience working in television and would have any leverage over them seeing as its his show.

I don't think it only matters if a party wins using this practice. I think the problem is the system itself if any parties use this practice at all, whether they win or lose.

Yasmin and Dominic next week. Good to have some fresh faces on the panel.

Brief glimpse of Storm at the end there. Not enough!

Kevin going off message at the end, complaining about the Neighbours clip giving away too much info. The lip syncing on it was pretty poor too.

A 'fun' week ahead with Yas. I can feel the man love already. Lots of head shaking and tut tutting and sneery faces to look forward to. I need a drink already.

A week off can turn into a month and then permanent. That seems to be the way this show deals with its front-of-camera personnel these days.

No Storm again today so has she gone for good? Probably not (holiday in Ibiza it says on Twitter) but who knows - Seema was due back in five weeks and that was a year ago(?) now. Never been mentioned since.

Only Toyah that's mentioned Ali's racism. Unsurprisingly YAB didn't and Dominic made a veiled reference to "said some silly things in the seventies". Some middle-class sensibilties tip-toeing around the elephant in the room. Would a recently deceased white boxer espousing Ali's views in reverse get eulogised in the way he's been? Now that's a more interesting subject for debate.

Had to turn if off today....I can't bare Yasmin. Irritating in both overly PC opinions, self importance, and shrill voice. Urgh.

You're not comparing like with like there, to talk as if there is some sort of equivalence between racism and 'reverse racism' is ludicrous. How can you compare the experiences of a black man who grew up in the Southern States of the USA in the 40s/50s/60s to... well, to what exactly? A white man who grew up in similar circumstances? Show me one. You'll be telling me next that calling someone h*nky is as bad as calling someone n*gg*r.

Can I remind you that the Greatest Briton of all time, as voted by the British public was Winston Churchill, who said plenty of repulsive and racist things - he was what we called 'flawed', and so was Ali. Ali was not a saint, he said a lot of stupid things, a lot of which had to to do with the ideology he was involved with. I agree that it should be mentioned, however when someone famous dies they are instantly canonized these days by our obsequious media and opportunistic politicians.

Dominic Holland and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, at opposite ends of the political spectrum, I can't stand either of them, so I might be giving this week a miss.

I made no such comparison. Based on two panellists avoiding mentioning Ali's racism I simply asked if a white boxer who'd espoused racism in his career would be eulogised in the same way.

Are you excusing Ali's racism because that's what it reads like.

To quote yourself, you're not comparing like for like there are you? A politician from two generations before Ali is hardly an apt comparison which is why I posed the question using a hypothetical white boxer who'd publically held racist views against blacks.

And I pointed out that the two scenarios are not equivalent

No. I just think the world is a lot more complex than A therefore B.

I was bringing up an example of an idol with feet of clay, who is a lot closer to home, the concept of the flawed hero dating as far back as the Ancient Greeks after all. I don't believe in saints.

In this specific context it is fair to ask if a white boxer recently deceased would've largely escaped criticism for racism at that level. The answer is no, they wouldn't, in fact it'd most likely be the aspect of their career most readily associated with them. There's a dimunition made when it comes to racist remarks made by anyone that isn't white that I just don't agree with.

Racism is racism - White on black, and black on white. There are no grey people for there to be grey areas about.
