Only if the dance is full on (& even then it's not to my taste), subtlety like in a VW or rumba is really not her forte

Yes, my mistake. I always think of salsa as Cuban salsa.
And my "will" should have said "may" ![]() If you go to a proper salsa event in London or one of the Cuban live music/band events and say you do 'cross-body' people look at you in horror and back away ![]() ![]()

Not wild about it either. When I was out in Cuba studying dance I came across it a lot. My young teachers (professional dancers with a national dance company) played it all the time.
Not only could I not get my body to do it, I loathed the lyrics, but the Cubans love it and they can dance it brilliantly. it is normal for them to add it to their salsa. In Spainwas popular for a while, till people said wait a second the lyrics are awful! Now there is still people who love it (played on certain radios all the time) but it's almost like a swear word itself reggaeton. Most people hate it. But mostly because of the lyrics. |

Do you want me to make you a badge? ![]() You like who you like Hun and it's fine. Be a dull world if we all agreed. I like it when we don't all agree as it gives us something to talk about, and as long as it's humorous and good natured, it gives us all a new point of view. Her foxtrot was the letdown of the series for me though, I was expecting perfection and was so underwhelmed. |

I guess interpretation and expression is subjective.
some people say Jay is bland, and I find him anything but bland! To me Anita is the least elegant and the least musical, which makes sense considering that she has " never danced before". because of that for me she is just the least pleasant to watch. I have liked many of her routines, but always in spite of her dancing. Thinking to myself, oh, I wished Georgia or Helen had done this and then I would 100% enjoy it. Otherwise I am distracted by the ungainly legs and feet (even arms like in the rumba). |

No, they really are not - and my view comes from my fairly lengthy experience in dance. Anita is the weakest, Kellie the least 'finished', Jay the most versatile and charismatic and Katie very elegant. All have flaws - which is to be expected - but Anita is the weakest in terms of technique, interpretation and expression.
And P.S. no one hates her. You must also appreciate that this is the Non-Appreciation thread and, as such we are able to disagree and discuss whatever we think without being attacked for those views. Not allowing others their opinions or constantly telling them they are wrong, is not in the spirit of this thread. Happy to post our rules NAT for you if it will makes things clearer? They have been the same for 5 years - ever since this thread began. |

I do too. It all seems half baked, she has pretty hands and does what she does with her face..but the rest of her body seems totally forgotten as if all the energy has gone into those two aspects and for me it's become samey, her core and legs are weak and I don't appreciate 30 seconds flaffing around before a dance starts, too much smoke and mirrors, I can't get sold on the hands and face alone and I find it difficult to believe that she can not improve somewhat....maybe she will tonight.
>.There have been plenty of celebs starting from scratch who are dancers - like Mark Ramprakash - so the NDB thing is irrelevant. You can be a dancer but have NDB. (* or, as the O/H put its - you can teach a man to swim - don't make him a fish) |

Curious about salsa mixed with reggaeton? Can Glebby pull it off? Erm....
This is what it looks like with two of best dancers out there right now - this is salsathon. Enjoy! |

Her tango is one my favourite dances of the series. Her VW was really excellent. I am hoping we are in for a treat tonight, we really should with a Waltz.

It makes sense that Gleb would be attracted to reggaeton by the sound of it - some of his moves already look as though (as someone memorably said) "he's shagging the parquet"
there's more than a touch of the sleazeball about his persona.

Yes, exactly. Let's hope everyone follows the rule.
Yes let's hope no one comes into a non appreciation thread and tells people off for not appreciating their chosen celeb, now that would just be rude. I am distinctly unappreciating the lack of Helen in tonight's programme, I feel it will be the poorer for it. Mind you I have felt she was short changed by the whole programme, stupid music and never the best theme. |

He could get splinters in some nasty places unless those leather pants are reinforced (codpiece?)
![]() Ruin the floor most likely. Perhaps he could spin around on the codpiece, like a floor level helicopter. That'll distract all right. |
