I've said in another thread that I don't think Gleb should take all the blame for the choreography of the Salsa. Jenny Thomas (who's a Charleston/Tap/Lindy-hop specialist?) tweeted that she'd worked on it with them.

Though how exactly was she supposed to do charleston/ tap/Lundy hop in platform boots

And why didn't they just get in a salsa specialist - Janette for example

Is the Pelvic Pummel a salsa move now?

It had 'Gleb special' written all over it

Id have kept quiet if that was me

And why would you get one of the charleston specialists to help with a salsa? And what on earth did she help with? Looks like a few of those lifts would have been more suitable in a charleston though.

It was just ill-conceived from start to finish.

It's a variation of one that's been used several times this year - the extracting the beating heart move.
Peter and Janette did it a couple of times and I think Gleb and Anita in the waltz, maybe?

Yeah, the teabag roly poly thing seemed quite Charlestoney.

Me too!

Actually that explains why it was anything but a salsa. Not specialists helping a the special pro.

I actually think it was inspired routine. We needed something for the semis. This is one of those dances that will be spoken of for years.

I think it's the only dance that may get close to the NotClooney Bacofoil for hilarity

The oddest thing about it is it made me appreciate how well Peter and Janette did the same move in their rumba.

The slow YouTube video with DS subtitles needs to happen!

I loved the moment when Gleb has a thought whether to inspect her inner bits. Then decides against it.
I am off to watch it again.

I guess we should just be grateful she didn't do it to him...

Monkseal, is there any correlation between semi final leaderboard and final positions?

Do you mean leaderboard position in the final or finishing position in the final? These are the positions in the semi-final leaderboards of the eventual winners

Natasha - 1st of 3
Jill - 2nd of 4
Darren - 3rd of 4
Mark - 1st of 3
Alesha - 1st of 3
Tom - 3rd of 3
Chris - 3rd of 3
Kara - 1st of 5
Harry - 1st of 5
Louis - 4th of 5
Abbey - 1st= of 5
Caroline - 1st of 5
(Jay - 2nd= of 5)

Which makes 7 of 12 series won by someone who topped the semi final leaderboard.

I love how quickly you do this.

Thanks.

Eek at Louis.

Wow. When did you see them do a salsa? Because it certainly wasn't on last night's show...

Yes, that's what I meant! I had a memory that in more recent series the winner tended to top the leaderboard in the semi, glad to see I hadn't imagined it. I had totally forgotten Louis in the semi; I had been thinking that they generally marked the winner as top of the semi so it could follow through to the final.

Thank you!

It was higher up, though - it was heart position not ... lady bits ... low ...

Me too. I'm so embarrassed but I can't help it. I do laugh when I watch it though if that helps.
