Yes, this. I will watch the results but the judges have vastly different taste to me.

Unappreciating that Helen wasn't dancing tonight. Every time I saw her I was wishing she could just go out and do a ballroom dance. Just one elegant ballroom dance from Helen and Aljeaz, that's all I wanted.

Also unappreciating that Kellie probably was good at the lindyhop showdance but it highlights everything I dislike about both lindyhop and Kellie's dancing. It's athletic and high energy but it almost always looks so ungainly to me.”

See I think your doing a disservice to Lindy hop it's athletic and quirky, that was high energy and unpleasant to watch. I quite like a bit of Lindy hop occasionally

I wonder what Diamond Betty thought of that dance, do you have a batsignal Diamond ?

Not usually in here unappreciating but tonight...

UNAPPRECIATING JUDGES' CHOICE.

Why can't we have all the joyful dances instead? Meh.

Fair point.

No, the Showdance is whatever the celeb and their pro want it to be. Jay, Georgia and Katie wanted to use it to showcase their previous 'best bits' and only one got questioned for it.

And one of them worked many more best bits in. Bah.

But Jay's seemed sleek, cool and modern - maybe not as much 'show', but plenty of dance. Didn't like the blindfold in Georgia's, the lifts seemed a bit... not quite with it in Kellie's and Katie seemed quite stiff and waiting for Anton to move her.

I really, really want them to go back to picking their own two dances for the final. I am done with repeating shitty week one dances, dances riddled with mistakes or ones that they did in dance offs. Done, I tells ya.”

Totally with you on that - and picking a dance the celeb had stuffed up (and then sending them out first) is never going to be an easy combination.

This this this a hundred times over!!!

I enjoyed all the showdances - yes really - but the judge's choices? Kellie's dance was good the first time she did it 5 years ago (well it almost seems like it!), Jay did his much better, Katie messed up again and Georgia... love her but don't like her rumba at all and I didn't enjoy it anymore than the first time. For a show that's supposed to be a big sparkly spectacular celebration of the best of the series, its a poor concept and I started getting bored after the first two couples had danced!

Thoughts?”

I totally get what you mean.

I think the judges are focussing too much on the 'show' and nowhere near enough on the 'dance' - ideally both is perfect but I'd rather have great impressive dancing than lots of tricks and stunts which distract from actual dance talent. Heck, when dancing is REALLY good, that's a showstopper by itself!

I enjoyed Jay & Aliona - it obviously wasn't as good as the jive but I never expected it to be. I love how he is playing this, even down to him not saying he wanted to win in the VTs when others were gushing... at least I hope that was down to him not saying it, rather than it being edited out!

Wouldn't it have been much better to have seen Jay's tango, Georgia's samba etc etc again? Why, in as you say the celebration of the best of the series do you lumber them with their worst dances? Let them be as good as they can be!

Couldn't chat in here earlier as I had visitors who have only just left. Needed to unappreciate the perfect scores handed out to Kellie& Kevin though. The Tango was well danced but not perfect & it was still fairly tango-light with carp choreography ( which is annoying as I bloody love The Kinks), and that show dance, while high energy, was just damn ugly and ungainly in places!

Amen sister! Would have loved to see those dances again. Much more than the ones we got tonight.

Jay's Tango was probably ruled out by the rule of not being able to pick one from the last 3 weeks of competition. Would love to have seen his Salsa though. Get rid of the Judges pick & let the couples pick 1 gave each of Ballroom & Latin.

One of my all time favourite showdances was Zoe and Ian. It'd never pass these days - for starters it'd fit right into Musicals/Stage and Screen/Movie weeks now, even with the breaks of expected choreo - but it was fun and lively and didn't depend on 70 lifts. (Ian on his arse just made it too!) I want dancing in my showdances, damnit!

sure, and J&A didn't choose well.

G&G gave something substantially different in the blindfold section, and re-worked their 'best bits' for more fluently and effectively. J&A felt like an 'edited highlights' cut and pasted together.

*high fives* Those are the kind of dances that should be picked again - good dances lacking a little polish. Not crappy dances which are polished turds.

Which is an absolute balls of a rule. Assuming people get better as they go along, why deny them their potentially 3/4 best dances? I get not repeating semi final dances, as that could be a bit boring, but why not dances from quarter finals etc? As you say, let them pick one Latin and one ballroom, or pick one that only takes a little polish. Bah bah bah bah bah.

What with this and Zoe's showdance (still my fave <3) we are on the same wavelength tonight.

I'm mentally preparing myself for an epic flounce but I think someone needs to remove this bottle of wine from my hands as it's likely to end up in the TV screen.

I also unappreciate this stupid rule.

I get it that it's not as straightforward as one Latin plus one ballroom any more but whoever thought that making the audience sit through the duff dances for a second time was a good idea - well, I am unappreciating them.
