It's never going to happen though - the whole point of the show is to increase ratings for the Beeb and they see the big PR push for the final as an integral part of the ratings chasing. They couldn't give a stuff if the dances are a bit half-arsed as a result.

I was even wondering if one dance for all finalists could have the same piece of music or be the same dance style but logistically and for 'entertainment' value it's not going to happen. Even so, I'd be interested to see a more direct comparison between couples in the final and with no voting from the judges.

I was trying to think last night, and sorry if I've missed this on the thread, but have the judges ever been so vocal in their support of a particular celeb? I can't remember it happening. All I know is that in past series the judges favourite seem to be doomed to be the public's least favourite and I'm quite surprised they have cottoned on to this yet.


This is probably exactly why Kellie was so popular with the judges on the night, like her or not, her dances had a surface clarity and 'energy'. Oh, and I'm pretty slow on the uptake but I had no idea that Strictly was based on They Shoot Horses Don't They? and the person with the most pep to stand and grin at the end is the rightful winner.

Absolutely! it's dispiriting for the couple and disappointing for the public.

And it was exactly that thinking which gave us Bacofoil and so for that reason should always be allowed to happen

Which is another reason for letting them do dances from the later part of the series. They are fresher in the mind and muscle memory and easier to iron out the wrinkles.

I'd have a moratorium on week one and 2 dances and any dance that had been criticised for being a dud content/choreography wise. Personally, I'd rather see a good dance from the week before again than a ropey one from 3 months' ago.

I'll be honest - it made my Christmas that year, ROFL.

I'd rather their last dances had no effect on the vote and were joyful celebrations of the result. So Katie does her VW to say goodbye, Kellie does her charleston as celebration of 3rd (for example) then Georgia does her charleston as goodbye dance at coming 2nd, then Jay finishes with paso. It would have been so much better and the pressure is off so they can enjoy it and the judges don't score it.

That's exactly it, isn't it? The final is supposed to be a celebration - not just for the celebs actually in the final, but for the all celebs involved and the series as a whole - not a tetchy reply of dances no one enjoyed that much first time round, a sulk because someone interpreted 'Showdance' in a different way to you and 3 days wearing your mardy cardi because a group of people's subjective opinion was different to yours.

Best bit is whoever uploaded it categorised it as "comedy"
