By contrast, how many would have done worse with him? The only ones I can possibly imagine with him would have been Carol - who would probably have been overwhelmed - and Kellie - who would have suited his OTT dancing but probably wouldn't have learned much, whereas at least Kevin does chuck plenty of actual dance content into the pot.

For sure. I don't think Kellie would have got her AS with Robin.
Let's put it this way, if he was replacing Robin, Kevin was a huge improvement!! (I know he didn't). |

I just think he's distinctly average. Nice guy, I'm sure, but doesn't bring anything new or different to the table - except, I suppose, the occasional table - choreographically. *jazz hands*
Anyway, we're home, and thanks for your good wishes. We got back yesterday to power but no phone/internet/3G comms but all restored again now. Just keeping everything crossed the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow doesn't hit as hard as being forecast. |

Unappreciating being stuck at work for today, well, some hours of today, not sure just how long I'm going to last, may check out the Christmas dances, although I'll just avoid Mr Jazz Hands efforts |

The problem is, I can't think of any of the female celebs this year who would have gone further or had a better run if they'd been paired with Robin.

A wicked thought but it might have been fun to see Kirsty having to go down the comedy route!

Fingers crossed the forecasters are being overly pessimistic. |

I think the main problem for Kirsty (and Iwan) is that of coming from the sports world, where if you train you get better. I think the fact they were putting in the training hours meant, to them, that by rights they should be good forgetting to factor in that neither of them had a musical bone in their body.
Fingers crossed DeltaBlues. Hope it's not to awful, AK! |

Sports people can do well because they can focus and train - as long as they are musical, have a sense of rhythm - and can remember the routine ![]() If they don't - Peter Schmeichel ?? But I did appreciate him - was very entertaining (Hope all OK for everyone ) |

Ha! I wouldn't quite go that far. I don't think I'd call Kevin a "huge" improvement on anything either literally or figuratively.
But he is better choreographically. I think I would love Robin if I met him, but I absolutely detest him on strictly. Dont like his jazzy personality, dancing, choreography, style... he appears to be so utterly vulgar. (though as I said, I think he is a real darling in real life) so for me Kevin is a huge improvement. Funnily enough the only thing that Robin has won on strictly irc was a Children in Need special (or similar) with Susanna Reid. So, in that respect he has done a better job than Kevin. (Just joking, I know its not comparable.) |

Unappreciating that Trent didn't come back this year.
I have been watching dances from last year, and he was great. I liked him better than Gleb and even Giovanni (though he is good too). |

For some reason I think they were no keen on Geordana Trents wife and they come as a package, yes Trent was great. Robin a no no and I always had my suspicions on whether he was a nice man, certainly quite a few very successful women in their own right, turned into nervous wrecks when taught by him.

I think Bobby is probably a nice man ... Ali Bastian still counts him as a friend and goes to functions with him occasionally. I think he was a support to her when things went a bit pear shaped with Brian.
I hate his dancing though ... it's all so panto!! |

Yes, those are the rumours. I hope they are back next year, though it would be surprising. Quote:

If I remember rightly, she looked so much like Aliona that some people thought Aliona was doubling as a backing dancer last year. Now that we've lost her, isn't it a great time to bring in Gordanna? |

Unappreciating my post-Christmas bloat (well, post all of 2015 if I'm being honest) and the fact I'm not famous so I can't sign up for Strictly and get the weight loss / tone up while having fun experience. I don't think Davina DVDs in a tiny living room is quite the same but fear this will have to be my alternative.

I'd be cool with Gordana as I loved Trent. She has to be as good at choreo as Aliona though. Although if she's anything like Trent I'm sure she'd be fab.

I'd be delighted to have them both next year - but I wouldn't blame them if they told the powers that be where to go if they were asked! I'd probably swap Trent for any of the male pro dancers, with the sole exception of Aljaz, given the chance!
