I like "Glob" better than "Glen" (jmho and I don't even hate Gleb - I just think the name Glob is funny) but Tiny Tree Frog wins the prize for inspired nicknaming Goat Wrangler is pretty good too but perhaps a bit harsh for delicate souls?

TTF, Tiny Tree Frog, is Kevin Clifton - there was a dance he did that included jumping on lily pads or something like that? (I didn't watch that season, just read about the dance and the name here.) Goat Wrangler is Karen Clifton because she's bow-legged (bandy-legged in UK?) I love OurLeona too - what a shame she's going away

I didn't know that! It sounds so sweet to me - "our" own beloved "leona". I think sort of tetchy nicknames can acquire an affectionate tone if used long enough - the bite goes away, at least somewhat. Now I'm trying to remember what Peter Andre was called - if I weren't so lazy I'd dig back in the archives. Used to make me laugh anyway. Didn't he have a disappointing series, after all the hype?

And as a traumatised veteran of DWTS-US, I have to say I'm a bit concerned about the apparent huge success of Glob and his specials and maxima-mega productions numbers. When the golden children (of the corn) brought them to our show, it was the beginning of the end, at least for me (and judging by the sinking ratings, I don't think I'm unanimous in this)

Exactly We're not the capital letter police here! Ano was (I believe) just unappreciating Gleb/ Glen/ Glob winning the SCD tour today- which is kinda the purpose of this thread I believe?
Now if it were TTF I would understand the hating...

Not An Appreciation Thread - where you can not appreciate something. (whisper - we can and do appreciate sometimes too.) All opinions are welcome - may not be agreed with, but it is not an appreciation thread so you can say what you want. Nicknames can and do happen - not everyone chooses to use them. Typos can happen too. But we aim for an air of genial sarcasm, not fisticuffs.

I think I've stumbled into something I don't understand... (nothing new) but I'll take this opportunity to unappreciate Glob's clumsiness. There have been reports he dropped both Kristina and Natalie during rehearsals (and that's why Natalie's on tour but can't yet dance) - and he also accidentally hit and gave Janette a bloody nose, causing her to go to hospital.

And am I hallucinating or was there a report that Helen decided to “rugby-tackle” Jay – rammed herself into his elbow – and ended up with a black eye? What's going on with these people!?!

The black eye would be perfect to guilt trick him for more attention afterwards.

In the year he danced with Susanna, he was meant to be Indiana Jones, hopping from crumbling column to crumbling column, but he just looked like a tiny tree frog jumping from lily pad to lily pad, not the butch, rugged rescuer look he was going for.

Can I just unappreciate Jay's Jive wig and lack of "downstairs support" during the beach group dance. The latter makes for some awkward watching and is kind of distracting - though some of the J & A AT may disagree with that

I'm too lazy too start a whole "dress sense" thread, so will unappreciate Kevin Clifton's clothing here. What is the poor man thinking? I thought he was off to a Halloween party in the last set of candids I saw. It's cute on a 15-year old, silly on a 33-year old.

I suppose he may be expressing his true self with his clothing choices, but if that's the case, why is his dance sensibility (including costuming) so twee? Does he feel trapped in the commercial show dance world and secretly long to be a member of an avant-garde contemporary dance company?

P'duh, Pondray are the ones I remember.

I think that's why I am so irritated by Anita's wins - it's all completely style over substance. Of the celebs on the tour I d rate her only slightly higher than Ainslie and probably equal with Jake in terms of dance ability.

Helen, Georgia, Frankie - all beautiful, lyrical and, exciting (at times) dancers. They should be winning or in top 2.

But Anita? Glumping around in her big shoes making her mouth go funny with Gleb prancing around with his shirt off? We have Aljaz for that.
