Just popping in to unappreciate that it's MrAlley Senior's 80th birthday on the 24th and having said he doesn't want a party/fuss/maybe go out at lunchtime, he's now announced that he wants to go out for a meal in the evening, so I'll miss Strictly .....

Does the man have no consideration for others...

However, as MrAlley quite rightly pointed out, I can record it and ff through all the waffle and have the whole thing done and dusted in about half an hour probably.

The nerve!

Hubby is correct. I did that with last year's opening show and no word of a lie, I got it down to 35 minutes.

They do. It was thought up by Fenia Vardanis who as a BBC employee was rewarded with champagne and chocolates (and her salary of course) for her brainwave. The franchise has earned miillions for the BBC and UK economy.

The production company that does the Great British Bake Off - Love Productions - has been 70% owned by Sky for the last couple of years.

Considering how the BBC have nurtured the programme from the backwaters of BBC2 and low viewing figures into the success it is today .... mutter, mutter

Not appreciating that

Anyway, as An Thropologist says, Strictly is the BBC's - can appreciate that

You don't think some future government would make them sell it off do you??

Mel and Sue have quit GBBO.
Paul and Mary don't seem to have said anything yet.

Hmm, a different running time because of ad breaks, different presenters, possibly different judges, and a lot of unhappy viewers. I wonder what Love Productions feels about this now.

Good for Mel and Sue 👍
Can't see it getting 15 million on C4

That's me out, no Mel and Sue, ad breaks and probably no random German's singing about dampfnoodles (sp ) . I'm guessing we'll get a Come Dine With Me style voiceover as well

Oh well, Strictly's here and mucho to unappreciate (and love lots, whilst moaning )

I may come to love Katya a bit, come over very well in her and Ed's training vid. Carry on like this and she'll be bagging a ringer next year

Out of pocket I would think.
And as they are part public service broadcasters they may have shot themselves in the foot in more ways than one. Time will tell though, maybe they have a cunning plan.

Thanks for the link adds. I am loving the thought of Simon Cowell snuggling down on a Saturday night to watch Strictly. I wonder if henposts on the live show thread or follows it for spoilers!

From what I read in the Daily Fail, Channel 4 has said that they'd welcome any of Sue, Mel, Mary and Paul aboard, but Love Productions feels that if they're not interested, then there's plenty of other fish in the sea. Or words to that effect. I really hope Paul and Mary also decline to follow the show to Channel 4. I don't think Love Productions realises just how much of Bake Off's success and popularity is down to those four and the chemistry they've built up together. It takes time to create that rapport and I rather think there will be a lot of viewers still expecting to see it right from the first episode on of the next series, and they'll be disappointed if it isn't there immediately.

Quote:
“Channel 4 confirmed today that none of the quartet have yet signed a contract but said they would be 'delighted' if the team wanted to join.

But a source for Love Productions added that if they don't, 'we have great creative minds and will come up with something else'.

Unappreciating all forms of minute and pernickety over-investment. Don't worry. I won't be here long. Just need to let off 😤....ahhh, that's better.

One word (or rather, 2) Top. Gear. Look how well that worked without the former presenters.

Funny- I came on here to say that I'm currently limbering up to deal with the use over the coming months of the word "invested" where "obsessed" is more likely the word they are looking for.

Although I am a Jay appreciator, I unappreciate the dredging up of "stories" from last year on the main Strictly forum.

Clears throat,

Feels like hesitant to throw a dampner on everyone,

However it is against thread etiquette to complain about " out there " in here.

After all we don't like it what it happens the other way round.

Out there <<<<<< stays out there please.

And retires to corner to prepare barricades for future in the season ........

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
We went off on our jollies 15 days ago to the depths of Turkey and I come back to find I have 34 pages to catch up on and worse of all ............... my two favourites have been buggered with their partners. I have always liked Louise and find she has been partnered with that awful **** from Grimsby and Laura has copped for Joe Varney. Distraught, I tell you, distraught!!

And breathe, I know exactly what you mean re Loiuse but nah. Joe Varney is ok he was partnered with an 8 year old last year, I suspect he may actually be intelligent if not having to partner an 8 year old who even after 13 weeks couldn't manage the basic courtesy of learning to say his name correctly.
I honestly felt as if he had lost the will to live by the end of the series.

I agree. It's a fresh start for him and if he's allowed to move on then he will do well with Laura.
