Welcome...

It's not a double standard because you're missing the giant chunk of middle ground between those extremes. See Jay, Georgia, Helen, even Kellie - they all look like they're having fun but clearly focusing too
AGREE - that is the difference between these four and Anita and Katie - I hope Jay, Kellie, Georgia and Helen are in the final

I missed the beginning, what's he done, and yes, without knowing the background I am finding the Wobbie face funny(I'll be suitably ashamed if it's an injury sustained rescuing an orphan child and cute puppy from danger)

Allergic reaction so he definitely needed it looking at, but could have been way worse than woobie face

Er, maybe it's just me, but I don't think she's in particular misery

here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I7mayJw_Ec - the one thing the judges commented on was the fact that she seemed to be having the time of her life

or here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pZ23eShemY

or here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zIvPbTpvIs

Or, well, just about every performance save her rumba. And, personally, I don't think disliking one awkwardly choreographed, notoriously uncomfortable dance is tantamount to not appreciating the joy there is to be had in dancing. Jay didn't look especially happy in QS week either.

And for those who have an issue with whether or not she's striking the perfect balance between having too much fun and not having enough fun OFF the dance floor, the gal doesn't look too miserable here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dA3U03X42I or here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUl-mVOs_pM

She looks quite serious and focused when, ya know, she's learning a dance from scratch but Jay danced his Foxtrot with the expression of a child struggling with a piece of long division and I don't doubt that he loved it 'till he forgot the last third.

As a strand of argument I just find it a little ... tenuous.

Never said she was miserable, just earnest.

You like, it's your right, some of us don't, that is also our right.

These are my dream finalists as well!

I could cope with Anita as a finalist, but Anita is really getting on my nerves now (as is Gleb) with her whole 'I've never danced before', 'I'm such a grafter me' routine. I think too many people have told her she's brilliant and now she believes the hype.

BTW am I alone in wondering if Gleb's bizarre choreography and showing off is at least partly to disguise Anita's lack of skills, rather than him not trying to teach her basics?

But slightly smarter because he includes basic steps that technically are correct.
Gleb doesn't.
It sounds as if all Gleb's dances do not include any basic steps that are technically correct when on the contrary, all his dances include basic steps in them and lots of these steps are executed correctly by Anita. It's a matter of choreographical taste whether to repeat basic steps 5 or 10 times, I think.

I am so distracted by her flat feet I no longer notice how or what she is dancing.

Gleb teaches her the choreography, which she manages well. Unfortunately, he does not bother refining technique or musicality.

It wasn't a response to 'she's earnest'. I agree with that. Not one to let my biases overrule my sight.

It was a response to 'I wish she'd show more joy on the dance floor' and 'she doesn't achieve the right balance between focus and lack thereof' during the training.

Hence some evidence of her enjoying the dance floor ... and er having a fun time of it.

I just find it funny when criticisms that could be aimed squarely at other contestants - and much more convincingly - are directed at her.

Then go for it, that's what the thread is here for, shrug, it's for pointing out the things you find funny/weird/annoying IN THE SHOW, rather than things you find funny/weird/annoying about the thread 😉

bib that's what I was thinking for many many weeks. Lately, I just don't know.

It sounds as if all Gleb's dances do not include any basic steps that are technically correct when on the contrary, all his dances include basic steps in them and lots of these steps are executed correctly by Anita. It's a matter of choreographical taste whether to repeat basic steps 5 or 10 times, I think.
I suppose, but not sure that she actually execute them correctly since many people here who have the knowledge always comment how poor her footwork is.
I don't know technical ballroom, but that resonates with me.

I am so distracted by her flat feet I no longer notice how or what she is dancing.

Gleb teaches her the choreography, which she manages well. Unfortunately, he does not bother refining technique or musicality.
Maybe you can't teach musicality?

If it's something you have eaten could only be the lips. I have weird allergies that make my mouth/lips do funny things (though none like that).or he may have been bitten!
