Was it just me or did Ed genuinely seem a bit afraid of what they've got planned for him?

I do enjoy Ed immensely, but he doesn't need props and wackiness to that extent. I agree with you, Ed is entertaining enough just being Ed!

Re the churches, ( sorry no segway&#128512 I love them too but hate the commercialisation of them. They have such a special feel, where people have come together for such a long time to home, dream, mourn and celebrate.

It gets ruined by the gated entrance where you pay your entirely voluntary or your not getting in £10.

I went to Delph once and the feeling there despite the commercialisation was awe inspiring. Awww! Even thinking of that makes me feel peaceful.

I can't remember who it was who like church mysteries, can they recommend any good ones ?

Church mysteries, for fun you need Suzette Hill who includes chapters from the cats POV and others with the dogs POV. Also amusing are the GM Malliet Max Tudor ones.

Mediaeval ones I suggest the sorrowful Mysteries of Brother Athestan by Paul Doherty

Katya has said most of the humour comes out of moves Ed comes up with spontaneously. Flying in the Komedy Kontestants (and Victoria Pendleton) is really old. I do hope this isn't how it ends up.

It's one of those things which sounds funny when saying it, but actually seeing it is always a let-down. But then all the media mentions in the run up is the point of it all. If just once it were a genuine surprise, it might actually work.
I think it's the inherent slowness of it all which grinds the thing to a halt. That, and knowing it's then followed by frantic off-camera de-harnessings, that robs it of any flow and impact.

Is it possible to do all the fancy wire work stuff at Blackpool? Wouldn't have thought the Tower Ballroom would allow such shenanigans.

I thought he looked genuinely disturbed by the idea, especially as I'm not at all sure it's a joke. Hopefully Katya can squelch that one good and hard.

Mind you, they've got seven couples and masses of time and that means comedy VTs up the wazoo. They gave us a break this week so we can be glad when they return in their full Blackpoolian glory.

Jeremy Vine was due to be lowered down on a giant guitar last year, but was eliminated - so Craig had to step in for descending duties (the Prop Elves had put a lot of time in on that - it wasn't going to go to waste).

I wonder if he is relieved or saddened that he doesn't get to play the piano this year? Never mind, Craig - fingers crossed for next year when John Humphries is elminated the week before he was due to descend playing a giant drum kit

I wonder if Ed might do a Jerry Lee Lewis as an intro once he's descended from on high? He's an accomplished pianist, after all.

Finally I have managed to catch up.

I have to say, I am in two minds about Dotis AT. They danced it marvellously, and the choreography was surprisingly good. But did hate the music, styling and costumes so much! What a pity they didn't get a good combo for their AT.

While I can't stand TTF as a dancer, he is a good teacher and choreographer. Much better than his sister.

Ed, well, for the first time I believe a comedy contestant can win the whole thing. But not sure how I feel about it, usually I would be upset but not really.

Also, queen Nat is so much more watchable doing ballroom than Jwane. To me, Nat is perfectcion doing ballroom (not so much in Latin).

Oh, can I have Oti's body? Specially her legs and boobs?

Part of me thinks they're piling this stuff on Ed in a sort of "well lets get it out of the way, then hopefully the public will let him go" way? After the jive there can't be any real showstoppers left for him to do, and its hard to see even Katya's genius coming up with such creativity for a Vienesse Waltz or a Foxtrot.

They don't do 'subtle' at all. They don't seem to understand that the best comedy and humour comes from the celebs and the situations (Gav in a cowboy hat, Michael's jive) naturally.

It seems that unless it's something that can be used as trailer all week or dangled from the end of a wire, it's not funny.

Much though I'd really like to see it, just to say I had, perhaps Ed doesn't like heights and it won't happen. I doubt they can force him.

Completely agree with both of you. That was a horrendous rendition of Hallelujah. Hauntingly beautiful melody is the perfect description. That song should be poignant and raw emotion, not saccharine elevator music!
