Is thst the one that goes 'whip crackaway, whip crackaway'? Do you think they would give him an actual whip? Or would that be a bit kinky for Saturday telly? Mind you, knowing this lot it would probably be a walnut whip.

Given Kevin's penchant for rescuing his celebs, and the liberties taken with storylines - I'm hoping that Klamity Lou is taken captive by injuns and it starts with her shouting ... or, as it's Louise, asking politely ... Kevin, Kevin save me. Kevin, as Rattlesnake then appears with a bottle of Sarsaparilla crackawaying his whip, which gets tangled in his chaps and he falls over.

Bruno would be asked to give him one, which he'd misunderstand.

So far, Kevin has rescued Susannah- dressed as Indiana Jones, Pondray has rescued Janette - dressed as Jack Sparrow and Ed has rescued Katya dressed as 5 year old who raided the dressing up box.
When are they going to retire the clunky Damsel in Distress theme?
Or at least have Natalie Lowe rescue Alistair Brownlee with Nat dressed as Wonderwoman

Don't forget Kevin saved the actual world in his Kellie Charleston

Didn't Michael save the whole front row and half of the second by actually regaining control of his axe.

Much as I would love a JR win I can't see it happening I just think the PTB think he is disposable now.

I would equally love a DOTI win, she really deserves it and as a DOT he is coming along nicely.

Beyond that it has to be a Loiuse win so Kevin can finally be given a duffer and out the first week, PLEASE.

Jo and Ore would be an awful win style over substance, yuk. However possibly worth it to see Kevin's face.

The worst for me would be Cloudier, nothing against her, I just haven't enjoyed and of her dances since the charleston and it wouldn't generate any Clifton angst.

The Deadwood Stage is such an awful choice for Louise. It would have worked wonderfully with Kellie last year as overacting is what is needed for Calamity Jane. Can see Kevin overacting and Louise being "nice" as always. Very underwhelmed by all the choices this week, not what I think of when I think of musicals. What would be so wrong in picking music from the older musicals when music was actually written as dance numbers?

Now that would be logical and helpful, not anything TPTB appear to be.

I wonder if there's a particular reason (apart from the obvious lyrical and instrumental limitations) why the pro dancers don't get to choose their own music.

In the olden days - series 3-ish - there was an ITT bit where they said they asked the celebs to put in a list of their favourite songs because it was thought dancing to a song they knew and liked would be helpful ... how times have changed 🤔

Not necessarily as Louise is very Doris Day virginal and Calamity Jane herself in the musical isn't noted for her "sex appeal". If Louise is dressed up in buckskins and being all tomboyish, they could surprise

Because the producers changed it. For the first few series' the professionals used to submit a list of, from memory, up to three tracks and then the production team would pick what worked well all together plus what they could get musical rights for.

I still refuse to believe it was ever entirely that simple. I absolutely cannot fathom a universe where Erin Boag sat down and thought "I know what'll work for a tango - Ride It by Geri Halliwell". And that was Series 3.

I think I remember that if what they wanted wasn't available for some reason, they got something imposed on them.

I could be misremembering but I have a vague recollection of ? Flavia answering that question on ITT.

Yet Deadwood Stage is typical TTF, just as Pure Imagination is Jwanne to a tee.

I even suspect "One Night Only" is Gloti's choice too.

Ah but what if she plays Katie Brown, who Calamity thinks is the burlesque dancer Adelaide Adams but is really the shy quiet maid!
Yes, I have also spent too many Sunday afternoons watching Hollywood musicals

That was my thought. Louizzzzze is much more the wet and ineffectual Adelaide than the feisty, gun toting tomboy, Calamity. God help any man who tried to 'rescue' Calamtity.

ETA: Or is this yet another engineered opportunity for Louizzzze to have a 'breakthrough'?

The pros can still put in requests at the beginning of any series - i.e Katya and Ed really wanted Great Balls of Fire. Sometimes the requests are granted - I think Oti requested her and Danny's samba music - but it can never be guaranteed.

Probably has to lot to do with performing rights. Bands and orchestras cannot just play whatever they want - another songwriter's actual composition - without permission on a prime time TV show, without remuneration.

I remember when I worked in the music industry the BPI were very hot on that - and it makes sense.

Very, very glad Oti got her music though. What a great change from the usual bilge they stick them with!
