Exactly the opposite for me , not keen initially and I am appreciating the really hard work he is putting in to get things right, as we all saw dancing at such a high level things can and do go wrong, that band thing between him and Oti went disasterously, I don't think any other dancer in this series has had things go so wrong, of course that is going to make him nervous.

I am unappreciating everyone saying he doesn't deserve to win because he was so good from the start ok, but as long as that holds true for Loiuse too.

Also some people saying they only want a series with the growers like Greg or JR

I have no problem with them but I do like the variety and appreciate the really lovely dances we get from the Dannis of this world too.

I wouldn't have minded an Ed win or JR, or Greg, or Naga, or almost anyone really.

At present no Louise because she really isn't putting her all behind it and someone who is just enjoying it and sort of there doesn't deserve a win.

Ditto Claudia because it isn't and hasn't ever been SCD lifting and I feel she is spending more time in the air than on the floor.

Personally Ore puts my teeth on edge but meh I could survive his win.
I had no idea you knew them so well.

Though if he said "Yes, we deserved them" or "I'm really pleased with the marks" he would just be blasted as smug, arrogant or both.
Exactly! He can't win either way.

Danny's reaction to his 10s seemed very genuine to me.

No problems with his hard work, but his false modesty is so obvious. When he says things like "I wasn't expecting tens for that", he's not being genuine.
Oh, I thought he totally was. I think he knew a discotango wasn't ideal.

I've surprised myself by liking him. I think he can't win. If he didn't practice hard and said it was easy, he'd be big headed and coasting, when he does practice hard he's being disingenuous.

I didn't really like any of the dances last night. None of them I want to see again - it felt like a place holder of a week whose only purpose is to whittle down the numbers when really it would be a bonus not too!

(I have to say, if Danny's routine was an audition - so was Louise's ... just not sure if that was for Louise, Kevin or both )

Blasted as smug, arrogant or both?

- "Yes, we deserved them" - probably yes

- "I'm really pleased with the marks" - certainly not by me and by many other people I imagine.

As I already said: the amount of hard work is nothing to do with it.

Hope nobody minds but I wanted to pop in here to unappreciate how overwhelmingly judgemental it's become 'out there'. From Kevin's hair to Natalie's parking faux pas to Will's disinclination to appear in the final, the knives are out and oh my goodness, what sharp knives they are!

I do wish people could lighten up a bit. We're all imperfect, we all make mistakes sometimes, or do things we might later regret. Why do we expect the people we see on the telly to be any different? Underneath the spray tans and dazzling smiles, they're fallible, just the same as us.

I guess my take is that he is trying super hard not to come over as big headed or cocky but it's a fine line - and some see it crossing into false modesty or disingenuousness earlier than others.

It's not mindreading - it's happened before with other couples.

Though you're right in it looks like I meant Mirliton would say that. I didn't mean it that way so apologies for that.

You just have to ignore and try to not waste time on some threads. I can't believe the number of Clifton bashing threads/posts there are - utter opinionated crap.

No apologies necessary at all I read it as you were saying plenty of others on the board would say that - and, given that this is the DS forums....

BTW, I'm just giving my perceptions from what I've seen over the series. We all see things differently.

Me and me cousins are just so pleased that our Gran only had a garden fence and local shop for gossip, pontificating and cardi clutching. Goodness knows what she would have been like with social media at her disposal. Banned, i think

(Although, whatever Kevin's hair actually is, it's hilarious )

I agree. Saying that, I do think Danny is perfectly within his right to say "I didn't expect tens for that" this week.

Over and over people have been told this thread is not for unappreciation of the board or other posters, but for the show!

The pros the celebs the producers the dances the bloody flowers all over the show, the fact that there are so few dancers now and they still want to whittle it down

You have a problem with threads out there talk about it out there

I knew someone would say that. I do not agree with you one little bit. He said that off the cuff immediately after the results came through and I am sure he wouldn't have decided to say that beforehand - he didn't know what the judges would award.

Apologies, didn't mean to transgress any rules. I was just sick of all the negativity and judgementalism out there and thought I'd vent in here. I'll keep it to myself in future.

That's very harsh. The whole purpose of a forum like this is to express an opinion. I don't agree with a lot of stuff I see on these boards, especially the pink & fluffy stuff up in the attic, but I just avoid it. Just because I don't agree with it, doesn't make it crap.

I really liked the fact that he was shocked by his 10s. Way better than the constant begging for 10s for Cloudia & AJ, as if everyone gets them at some point regardless of the quality of their dancing.

Don't be sorry. I doubt you will be alone. Its quite a British thing not to like people who try or appear to try too hard or at least it isn't if they succeed. We warm to people who aren't very good and even more to those that try hard and still aren't very good. But we seem to recoil from excellence or success. I have often wondered why we are so uncomfortable with winners.
I don't think the poster was referring to success though, but to the outward appearance of Danny saying each week he was struggling, or something was going to go wrong etc, then producing an almost perfect routine each week.

I may be wrong but that was my interpretation of their comment.

I'm another who Danny has grown on and that's purely from his performance on show night. I don't watch ITT, don't read the papers etc, so my opinion of him has come from the reactions I've seen him have on the night and how he interacts with the others in Cloud Nine. He seems a really nice, fairly quiet bloke who likes dancing and is pretty good at it.

Me too. I had never heard of him before SCD, don't watch ITT (can't stand Zoe Ball) or read celeb sections in newspapers. I have been impressed with his work ethic as shown on the SCD clips, love his dancing and relationship with Oti and like the way he roots for the other dancers. He's usually one of the first to hug the outgoing couples, is always shown applauding in the Clauditorium etc.

It may be that he is genuinely not sure of his ability, hence his comments, but being an actor when he is on stage he switches it on and performs. He always acknowledges the judges' criticisms of the bits where he goes wrong.
