![]() ![]() Irish grandma's are fierce. I got lucky with my other half; apparently the French 'are awful polite.' ![]() My Dublin Irish granny was the gentlest, loveliest soul, but her mam was a feisty Dubliner who scared most of the towns men! And I've been to Nantes, it's lovely, all chateaux and I remember cruising up the Loire.....it's quite cosmopolitan in my memory. But having said that, it was 36 years ago in a school exchange |

Evening, I don't usually post on this thread, but hello!
My Dublin Irish granny was the gentlest, loveliest soul, but her mam was a feisty Dubliner who scared most of the towns men! And I've been to Nantes, it's lovely, all chateaux and I remember cruising up the Loire.....it's quite cosmopolitan in my memory. But having said that, it was 36 years ago in a school exchange I haven't been yet - still grappling with the language! - I'll let you know any updates!

I dont think a woman delivering a 12 pound baby could push as hard as the ITT crowd were pushing tonight for a Louise Kevin win
talk about bias, they are desperate to get Kevin that win this year |

This is as nothing compared to next week. Expect total Grimsbyfication and ... should Jo also be there ... a sibling twee overload.

If it's a double whammy, I fear I may not be able to watch the final live, until I know for sure that lump of glittery plastic has been secured elsewhere. If TTF's weekly safety sex faces are OTT.....,........... defibrillators may be required on standby. Not just for the unfortunate spectators....
And flounce, pashmina swirling in the morning fog,......... 😤😤😤😤😤😤 I do wonder if they're trying to throw Tiny Tears under a bus this week. Poor guy has some shocking songs and theming. |

I gave up hopes of speaking proper English long ago. And recently I have finally fully embraced my accent. (Just beacuse some people seem to think it's sexy! I still think I sound retarded!
)![]() English with a Spanish accent (or should that read - an Espanish acccent ) is uber esexy. But I know what you mean. I was worked hard by my Spanish teacher to try to get a reasonable Spanish accent and I think I did OK. Native Spanish speakers know I am not Spanish but at least they don't instantly know I am English either. Often they think I am Italian, which tickles me pink! However I cringe at my terrible grammar which I have never really nailed and the knowledge that I must sound like an unschooled ignoramous at times. This morning I have been tying myself in knots trying to describe "a kitty" in Spanish. I don't mean a cat, but the concept of pooling resources to fund a shared enterprise. Google translate gives the word bote, which I know but am not sure it means exactly the same thing. I seem to have meandered off topic. Apologies all.

Another one here
I've left the Ormo Christmas cake by the kettle and the soda and potato bread are frying nicely on the hob.I live in Dublin now and have just spent half an hour on the phone with the tax office where the automated system could not understand my speaking my tax reference number in 5 attempts and so finally put me through to an actual person - I felt like I was in an episode of Miranda ![]()

No. I only go 'home' about once every three years. Usually births, marriages or deaths.
I have an English friend who now lives in Ireland and seems to be going to a funeral about once a fortnight. It seems everyone who lives within 50 miles is expected to attend.

There's nothing like a good funeral at home, apparently. Every time I ring my granny, I learn of yet another passing of someone who lived across the road in 1976: 'But you'll be back off the funeral, aye?'

I was away last weekend and had a busy so week so finally caught up on last week's show yesterday and even managed to watch ITT for about the third time this series!
Greyson really is the most boring man in the world to watch in an interview, isn't he? I'd forgotten. He talks as though he's a character from some weird kind of fairytale where he was cursed to only use words from one specific self-help book and now every time he goes to talk, he has to skim his memory to suitable words that he can re-arrange and put into a new sentence. I did love Ellie's initial reactions to his performance. She had blatantly never heard that song before in her life and I'm not sure she was terribly impressed by it. Last week? I thought Louise's audition for Calamity Jane went pretty well and Claudia seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time at the school fete getting her face-painted. Oti and Danny should just give up on individual dances and put on some dance-based plays instead, I think they'd both enjoy it. My only memory of Ore's foxtrot is the flower backing dancers. What happened there? Did someone send the wrong memo to the costume department so they prepped for waltz of the flowers and by the time they realised their mistake, it was too late so everyone just had to style it out? |

They also asked if TTF's dad would be a judge on Strictly. He said he hadn't been asked and didn't think it would be fair if he was, but he could be persuaded... (Alarm sounds in the office of TPTB as they try to find the number of his agent!) |

Oh God I really hope that doesn't happen this year - if it did, TTF would become so insufferable and even more annoying than usual

Half of me feels we might as well just give in and accept a TTF win. This is going to go on every year otherwise and he'll eventually be given someone I like and admire and I'll have to watch them being forced into tweedom.
I might even vote for him to win in the hopes that next year he'll be given Su Pollard!

Last year, there was overwhelming support for one celeb (Jay), and they were doing everything they could to push someone - anyone - else, in order to make it a competition. Unfortunately, Kellie really wasn't popular - they would have done better to push Georgia. However, like Jay, she was nobbled by terrible judge's choice. I think (although we'll never know for sure, as figures aren't published) that Anita the NDB was the only one who could have given J any serious competition in the final. Certainly, on Tour she was the only one who ever beat Jay. She and J were always 1 & 2. Nobody else got a look in. This year, I believe it's much more even. All contestants seem to have their fans, some more manic than others, but there's no "Army" that I'm aware of. There does seem to be a 4-way split. I truly have no idea who's going to win this year. |
