I want to unappreciate this actually. (Again. Some more.) Would it kill the BBC to tell us who came second and third in the final? We know all the other positions, we know who came *last* so I don't see how it would be embarrassing for the celebrities involved.

Also you just know that at some point this Christmas Kevin and Jo are going to get into a classic sibling row with Kevin insisting that he and Louise came second, dammit, it was definitely second and Jo needling back that it was probably third because obviously she and Ore were first and Danny was such a good dancer, there's no shame in being beaten into third place, Kevin, not with such stiff competition this year...

Doesn't this post prove that you do? The fact that you couldn't come up with a witty retort has nothing to do with it.

Judging from the order that they are interviewed, I think 3rd this year - but I think maybe 2nd last year? A good, crowd-pleasing set of dances works wonders on the night, propelling Kellie's lindyhop over Georgia's blindfolded malarkey, but Danny beat Louise. I think.

I'd like to appreciate the speed with which Hair and make-up managed to completely change the look of the female finalists for each dance.

Unlike when Lisa Snowdon did her famous bacofoil Showdance in a contemporary leotard with hair and make-up looking like Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter

Yes, Danny and Natalie. Jay's a very different kind of dancer and performer.

Remember Louise was the first to talk about winning. Eye on the prize, not the dancing... Daisy is a sweetie.

There's no way the others could have done his dances, he could have done theirs easily. Same with Jay last year - a level of musicality and ease of movement beyond the others, however good they were.

Ditto on the VW, for the same reasons. Other than the fringed monstrosity (and, I'll admit, the song) I think she did a good job with the emotion of that. However, where Ore and Danny got dances that were highly praised at the time (which made for a better final), she should have had familiar.

What I find odd is that this thread, as last year is scattered with blacked out posts, just like after last years final. I only mention it because it must kill some posters to have to wait till the final to post to gloat that somebody won or lost.

A whole year before they feel they have something interesting to say and a possibility that someone may respond to them.

Shame because I think they would know by now most regular DOTs have discovered the ignore button long ago and yet again they are talking to themselves.

I have to wander what's in it for them as they run in here get ignored and run out.

Anyway to all Dots and lurkers everywhere how lovely to have spent this season with you.

I really enjoyed this year and got behind some people I really didn't think I would.

It's been a year of suprises where quite frankly I wouldn't have minded Ed or JR winning, or Claudia or Greg really , maybe Daisy who seemed really sweet.
Not Tameka who I just never found funny, nor Melvin who was bad and had no idea.

The rest were just also rans for me.

Danni turned out suprisingly sweet and I am sure Gene Kelly's wife must have been amazed at the resemblance to his dancing. He will always be a WUZZROBBED who are forever remembered fondly.

I will probably watch a few of his dances on you tube and I can see him featuring heavily on favourite dances of all time, AS, Charleston, samba, QS gosh that's a lot for a non winner to come away with.

As for the Clifton couples, none of their dances feature in my lists so there's that.
I have never care for either Cliftons choreography and I just hope after a season where the new pros outshone many of the established pros the BBC realise just how emperors new clothes the Cliftins, including Karen, Janette, Brendan, Anton really are, also Pasha, as sweet as you are you don't know how to teach a not so good dancer. In that vein Aliaz too I saw a lot of choreography repeated.

Come to thing of it lets have a whole sale pro cull.

agreed, the 3 looks louise got were particularly well executed, from the fantastic head of curls to the AT slicked back siren look via a sllightly 'undone' contemporary inbetween

Re Pasha - I think he wants to get the best out of his partners. In less able dancers, that makes for a slightly dull if well-intentioned dance (unless for monstrosities like Carol's "I Think I Love You" Hallowe'en rumba). He's never got the "ah, fcek it, let's go for comedy" memo - which I appreciate. He respects his partners, and I'll bet even those with two left feet will come away knowing a few steps. I'm not sure we could say the same for some of the duffers that last due to comedy routines, like Jeremy Vine.

In fairness, I think Katya got Ed far, with comedy, and taught him some steps, so it's not impossible, but I don't know that comedy routines are something Pasha's comfortable with.

But then I'm one who thought Pasha and Naga got on well, so may be seeing something different to others...

In hindsight I unappreciate not receiving company five minutes before the results!

I thought Naga and Pasha got on well too both driven and perfectionists, it's just sad that she didn't have a chance to show she was actually learning to dance and enjoy it, I think she could have had a real journey.

Strictly is a winning formular for the BBC so I can't see them changing it much but I personally would wish the blantent pushing for what they want would back off quite a lot. This final hasn't left the feeling of sour grapes that last years did, I hope they don't think it gives them a mandate to overproduce manufactured storylines.

I'm not sure if I'm growing more cynical or the producers are becoming more manipulative but, for me, the show is becoming more and more controlled week on week, year on year. And the issue is once the producers have the taste of power they are very unwilling to let go of it.

Well, at least TPTB appear to have listened in one respect, which is to make the judges' choices some of the best dances rather than some of the worst, thus making the final a more up-beat affair.

If I were a Louise fan, I would have been furious at the way she was sabotaged, though, with judge's choice.

That's one of the reasons I think it perfectly fair for viewers to choose to base their vote on the series of the whole rather than just the final night - one or more couples can be affected by poor dance choice (Jay and Georgia last year other notable examples)

"One night only" viewers will also be far more subject to judges' pimping efforts, as they will not have seen the judges adopt their favourites several weeks, or even months, back.

And finally, this is a competition that has gone on for 3 months, not one night. The final is culmination and celebration (the latter aspect missing last year) of their achievements. However, people might want to vote for the person who has given them the most pleasure over 3 months, for whatever reason, not just on one night.

This year, although Danny was the best dancer, he did not do himself justice in the final, but, unlike Jay last year, he evidently did not have enough goodwill accumulated from the previous 3 months to make up for it. At least he finished on a high - that samba. Wow!

Cav's not tall. And very slight. He'd need a petite partner otherwise it'd be Claudia and AJ in reverse. Eep.

Would love to see it. Cav makes me laugh, even when he's throwing his toys. Proper heart-on-sleeve type. And there would be tears, guaranteed.

I also un-appreciated Claudia wheeling people out in the Terms and Conditions sections because I don't think it is amusing.
And I un-appreciated certain posters telling me that these bits were funny. I put them both on ignore. I don't mind reading opinions different to mine, but I don't like being told my opinion is wrong.

I also un-appreciate the poster coming in here picking fights with anyone who responded.

But overall, I have enjoyed this series.

The biggest surprise was Danny.
As I said back in September, I expected him to be like Mark Wright and I expected to hate him for it. Instead he turned out be be a nice bloke, not arrogant or swaggering and I enjoyed every single dance he performed. He made mistakes - which only made him seem more likeable.

I thank Louise and her calm niceness because she seemed to keep Kevin down a bit. Especially in the Clauditorium. No squealng and jumping about during the scores much. Well, certainly less than last year with Kellie Bright.
So I thank her for that.

I'd really like to know the troof abaht Will Young's surprise exit though. Nosey ain't I?

Now I await the appointment of Len's replacement with eager anticipation.

Also curious to know if Brendan and Anton will be put out to pasture.
Maybe Anton will be given a Bruce type role and Brendan could be a good Judge.

And on a final note - I do hope Tess gets a Bra that stops one boob being lower than the other.
