I personally loved their Showdance (for all the Zoe's "we were all in tears" it's one of the few dances that actually gave me goosebumps) but I understand you wanting a few moments of quiet as a contrast.
Oti is a great choreographer, but she needs to show a bit more light and shade, rather throwing everything including kitchen sink PLUS food waste disposal unit at the dance. On the other hand, Kevin showed plenty of quiet moments in their Showdance, but sadly very little else Quote:
See, I think Oti probably thought they had showed lots of light and shade over the weeks and especially last week - their American Smooth was lovely and graceful - and played to Danny's strengths which are passion, fire and drama. Sadly the floating voters didn't go for it but for me personally it'll go down in Strictly history as one of the best non-winning showdances.
For me, it showed that you can use a prop and have it be part of the dance, not something to disguise bad dancing or fill up some time. The mirror was integral and I love that they actually told a story in their showdance and not "Here's some dry ice and a bit of wafting!" or "Here's a bit of generic ballroom and a giant drumkit..." Quote:
I'm sitting here (admittedly after at least a bottle and a half of prosecco) thinking back on this series.
Strictly is ostensibly about zlebs "learning to dance" But the three finalists, good as they were, had they REALLY progressed all that far? Danny and Louise, stage school alumni. Started off adequate. Finished ever so slightly better. Louise's big journey of self discovery turned out to be "here are my knees" Never danced before Ore? Well, Joanne must have worked bloody hard with him the the three weeks between launch show and first competitive show, because he was good from the get go. But did he actually improve that much in 16 weeks?? |

I know I'm bitter but do you not think Never Danced BefORE looks the slightest bit smug in this photo? http://i2.mirror.co.uk/incoming/arti...ORE_305JPG.jpg

Yeah, they were getting Ore to that final even if it meant literal murder if it came down to it. I just feel sorry for Danny really - any other year and I think he would've won it, but he came after two perceived ringers. The only good thing is I think he has a lot of good will on his side because a lot of people (and not just online) are saying it was fixed for Ore to win. I don't think there'd have been the same accusations if Louise had won instead of Ore. It does have a whiff of fix about it, doesn't it?
Dratty drat drat. Couldn't click on any Strictly side bar of shame today for fear of clocking Bawl-ray's smug visage. Thank God there is still more alcohol to hand.. where's a bottle emoji when you need one??? |

Oh god I'd forgotten the toilet paper show-dance. Pasha played that really well, even got the top open for extra votes. That was where Doti went wrong - get Danny dancing in some shorts and nothing else and he might've won!

I agree Oti is fabulous and love her fierce choreography but do think she missed a trick with not showcasing any soft, still or particularly tender moments in their dances.
Everything was strength and power TBH and they did come across a bit one dimensional (power strength and ferocity). Even the VW and Foxtrot were powerful battles between them. Very dramatic but I can see why people were left wanting. It's a shame they swerved the Waltz as that could have given the still moments we never really had. |

I wanted Danny and Oti to win, but I can see why Ore did.
I think quite a few people vote (possibly online) in the final for the first time, and based mainly on the dances in the final. Jo and Ore had mainstream dances, real crowd pleasers, which might not have been technically perfect, but didn't have any obvious mistakes. Danny on the other hand had one classic ballroom, with an unfortunate great big mistake that was obvious to someone with no dance knowledge. The Samba was technically very good, but to the amateur eye it could just look like a lot of letting it all hang out. I loved Danny's Showdance but can see it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea Gawd, TTF and Mimsy were so mortifyingly dull and what WAS that Showdance? She wasn't even wearing proper ballet shoes No evidence whatsoever of perfect feet there darlings. I shall call it the Dreary Dirge henceforth, or should that be Lumpen Dreary Dirge? Please someone tell Kevin to stop doing his idea of contemporary suffering and rebirth. What does he know about angst. Oh hang on! The hair issue. Not deep enough! Ore had a real generalist appeal. They worked so damn hard on his story too. As a media person can I take my hat off to whoever was behind The Ore Story? Superb campaign. Nice work. Have to hand it to you. You're good, very good. God, I can hear violins. Thing is, Danny and Oti's dance relationship shone so much more brightly. It was so evident that he has loved the dancing and the learning. They had a blast, he's really decent, nice guy and everybody - including all the pros - loved him. Mega career boost with real style. That's a big win. And now everyone knows how bloody amazing Oti is. Sorry Janette and Karen. Your spotlight is off kilter. When Louise said if she won the Glitterball she'd put it on the dining room table?!?? I thought whoever scripted that segment should be taken and away quietly and put down. And they all had to do it. Ffs! It's PLASTIC. No, it's not a trophy. Seriously. As we'd say in Dublin, 'would ye ever cop onto yourself ?' And look, I've been abroad for years so if I have misquoted that old saying I am sure one of the Irish contingent will put me straight. But you know what I mean. It led to a heated discussion. Tess was not good enough to present it? What the ... Lastly, can someone kidnap or re-deploy Jason G. Naff little predictable dance (hah!) routines should be banned henceforth They're all the bloody same! And take the useless Platero kid with you.My eyes hurt and my sensibilities are wounded by their vulgarity. Neither of you will ever master the AT. Not in a million. Not ever. Go now.

The semi final, absolutely. I hate to say this as a Doti fan, but Danny was unable to bring His A+ game when he really needed it. From the second Danny missed that leap in the QS, my heart sank. I do think that the Widow Kelly appearance was nauseating gimmickry that screamed FIX. But that maybe due to my innate irritation with Tiny Tears, and a hang over to the ridiculous overmarking in the SF that got him unscathed by DO 3 to the final. I also think that Jwanne went for safer, more mainstream choreo that the finals audience lapped up more than Dotis more challenging, edgier routines. Overall, series wide, Danny deserved to win, but Aw-ray and the more comfortable, audience oriented choreo won through.

Completely agree...where WAS the progress? iF ORE ONLY HAD FOUR DAYS of training in week FOUR to get that jive the way he did...how the bloody hell did he do it?? Like her or not, kristina rihanoff called the 3 finalists out as these three after week ONE in her Mirror column. It was that bleedin obvious. Ed was the focus of attention for 10 weeks, but was never gonna reach the final...same with claudia later on, but for different reasons. |

Can i just say that if Strictly are going to continue to ask people with any sort of previous dance experience to take part in Strictly then do not allow your judges or any member of your production team then use that as a stick to beat them with! Listening to Len singing the praises of Ore last night and saying that he epitomised the 'spirit' of Strictly on the night of the final was in my opinion grossly unfair to the other two! I think Zoe said it at least 3 or 4 times a week on ITT to anyone who would listen.

If they're going to ask people to participate in the show who have past experience, it would be nice if they didn't then punish them by crowing about how another celeb "HAS NEVER DANCED BEFORE, HINT HINT! UNLIKE THAT DIRTY RINGAH WE WON'T NAME! WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE!" BBC, you wanted them to join the cast. Can you maybe not treat them like you did it just to give the plucky underdog David a ringer Goliath to defeat? |

I'm going to say this before I regret it.
On the night, Ore was the guy who performed closest to his peak than anyone else. Like him or loathe him, he was on the top of his game. Anyone looking for someone delivering on the night didn't have to go too far. He'd have attracted a huge proportion of the "on the night" viewers. He wasn't the best dancer on the night. Danny was. But I can see why he won. |

I liked the bit on ITT where Kevin remarked that Louise had said she just wanted to get as far as Halloween so as not to be embarrassed on the school run. Can just imagine the looks on the faces of Tameka, Naga, Lesley et al when they heard that
