I don't normally pick a dance apart, but that was just too dire and too many were raving about it.

Does DJ still have his blog, and does he still watch strictly, I thought he had given it up.

The thing is even as a non AT, as a freestyle dance I thought of it ugly and a vulgar.

This would be interesting but I sort of agree with Marinamau.

Oh the joy of DS at the latter stages of SCD. This will only get worse.

Agreed.

Can you imagine the sort of show dance we will be getting from Gleb if they get to the final?

Me too - even as an American Smooth AT it missed the mark. Have watched it again to see if I'm mis-remembering ... but it was just tacky - and badly danced tacky at that.

At least we have an answer to the 'can Gleb make any dance all about him?' question. Yes. Yes he can.

The Chippendales? Velcro trousers? An couple of embarrassed backing dancers tippy toeing around as a bottle of baby oil and a can of squirty cream? Anita sat in the front row of the audience?

Any, but probably all, of the above

I don't even want to rewatch it. I have done several dances of Anita's (I liked very much her waltz and her As (minus the crawly thingy) and i could manage the paso just to check on details.
But this one, it was a horror. It's just so vulgar. (Anita isn't vulgar but whole set up and even the end was

Once they have this shared axis the slightest movement in the mans torso is felt by the woman. Her golden rule is to stay in front of him where ever he goes. So as she feel him move his chest ( and its more of a change in tension or energy than actual moving) she moves to stay in front - hence the mirror.

Also because the upper bodies are fixed and solid (or supposed to be) in a constant and firm frame, if he moves the energy travels through her body to the point of least resistance which is her free leg. So her leg moves in response to the energy generated from his chest. You can't see it but you sure can feel it and your leg will move almost of its own volition. And that ladies and gentleman is the essence of the magic of this dance.”

Just popping in to thank you for this explanation, Anthro. It's lifts the veil of confuddledom a little for this non-dancer

I doubt that he does. He got so fed up with the whole thing and bored with DS. Besides which he is too busy working all day and teaching AT in his spare time.

He runs lots of AT events and is a very committed teacher - hence his ability to dissect each step and move (not something which is natural in AT because it is very organic and there are so many styles).

That is the other aspect of AT. It is evolving across the world with young dancers playing with ideas and adding their own interpretation to AT. It can vary enormously according to whether a couple dances milonguero style, or Salon, or Nuevo. Easier to show you in fact.

Here's a very 'European' loose nuevo style AT video of Mariano and Alejandra, who are considered to be very hip and cool. This is contemporary AT - a much more open hold, looser movements, a more casual feel but still stylised. See what I mean?

Note though that the feet are still controlled, neat and precise and his lead strong and clean. She knows exactly what he wants her to do and is utterly focused on him.

Do it. I'm actually interested to see who people vote for now that Peter is out as he was 'winning' that poll most weeks.

Me too. It was much like Kellie's salsa last week as a visual experience.

Yeah, I really don't want to see that again, but if they make the final we will, but more

I think he's done Anita a massive disservice this year, I could quite happily loose him for next year, but he'll be back I'm sure

Yeah, just saw it. Didn't expect Jay to win that one myself anyway, he's generally scored the least in that poll along with Georgia. The others have all taken their turns being around 3rd on it though (after Peter and Jamelia) iirc & so it does become a more interesting poll now that the series 'villan' is out.

At least we finally got a dance I had to watch from behind a cushion. 😱😂 After so many false starts and promising training footage, they all turned out to be properly meh, but this one was gloriously horrific! I had full on girly shrivel, peering through my fingers, 😱 face, so I guess the moral of the story is, if you're going to be that bad, make sure you do it with gusto.

And the Show The Vagina lift did appear though it was brief so no long term scaring.

I wasn't keen on him on dwts either. Some have said that they thought he was lovely to his duffer on there but I felt like he was being a little backhanded & sly, although tbf, his partner was a pain. Wasn't happy that he came over to scd & wouldn't mind in the slightest if he moved on to another version elsewhere again. I think he wants dwts again ultimately anyway.
