Wasn't sure where to post this, but it's an interesting article about Russian dancers on Strictly.

Did you see the pics of Kevin at Sadlers Wells for Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty? He and Karen were in matching 'sexy' leather 😬 . *shudders*

ETA: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...9519437715.jpg
What did I click

Isn't Songbird the music when Sarah takes Carl up to her room then chucks him out after they've undressed each other to visit her brother in the middle of the night?

Maybe that will be TTF and Kellie's 'story' this week?

Is that the plot of a film or something you've decided to share with us from your life

Unappreciating that that's a Daily Mail link and one of the very few principles I do stick to is never to click on them...I (sort of ) want to see Leather Kevin.

How about option 4...that's Karen's natural style and she's dragging Kevin along into it, like an older sugar daddy hooked up with a bright young thing squeezing himself into too-tight jeans to please her?

Thanks for that - I'd read the shorter version in RT but there was some interesting extra stuff, like Kristina's view that modern Russian dancers aren't as driven because their lives are easier generally.

Also, Gleb started as a model. That explains a lot...

Trust me you don't, you really, really don't. Just imagine your local accountant who's decided to dress up as a camp, bad boy for the night, in leather, in black and you'll be most of the way there.

Karen looks lovely actually.

Kevin, not so much...

Do you think they are trying to be the new Posh and Becks?

I have always said Kevin's geek persona is for the show...look back at vids of him before SCD his hair was longer and his clothes much more grungy.

Here you go - not a DM link: http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/...hoto/500241130

Karen looks great, but I don't get the matchy, matchy thing. Or Kevin.

Poor Kevin, he still somehow comes across as quite gauche to me.

Does that mean the same as looking a prat, Mona?

I remember kids at school about ten years ago going through a similar phase as it was the latest 'thing'. It's probably still a hangover from that.

And yet it still didn't work, he just looked like someone trying to adopt that persona to look more interesting, someone playing dress up.

After seeing Kevin on SCD, I kinda assumed that his emo phase had been something to try and differentiate him from the other dancers on BTF. His SCD persona seems to sit on him more naturally.

This definition fits how I think of the adjective gauche.

It's like Adrian Mole trying to be cool for Pandora.

You just know he'd rather be wearing his reindeer jumper with the Pom-Pom red nose.

I'm trying to think of as many as I can

Norman Deadan - Scott Maslen
Funnityfunfun - Lisa Riley
Rachbot - Rachel Stevens
Gavbot - Gavin Henson, but we often talk about Gavin's ickle face
Dr Hamela - Pamela Stephenson
Smug Vicar - Tom Chambers
Smug Farmer - Matt Baker
NotClooney - Lisa Snowdon
Austinwozrobbed - was the original, but we've now added Colinwozrobbed, Denisewozrobbed and now Helenwozrobbed
Donovator, Donobot or Greyson - all Jason Donovan, the most earnest man in the world and we all used to fall off to sleep every time he appeared on ITT
Shimmy Jimmy Jordan - James Jordan
Chelseepet - was not the first pet but she was the one thought of with the most affection until Jaypet

I'm sure I've forgotten a lot of them.

Eta: I forgot TTF and his wife the goat wrangler

Kevin is tiny tree frog after the dance where he was Indiana Jones and looked like a frog jumping from lily to lily and Karen dances like she's wrangling goats with her legs
Also neede is a glossary of terms :-

Tittarubba
Volderumba

I'm sure there are loads more, also need to add

Kerplunk. Natasha kaplinsky
Dancing Wardrobe - Darren Gough.

The Hello Ducky Shimmy - Matt Dawson move comprising of a shimmy with back to camera and a coy look over shoulder. Not for the faint hearted or delicate of stomach.
Auntie Debs - Deborah Meadon
Honarary DOT - Holly Valance, Judy Murray
Brenda - Brendan
BOD is Ann Widdicombe, the Bosom of Doom

Blulu is Bloody Lulu
Ann Widdecombe is also GTT or the great titted trout.
Chris Hollins is the Hobbit.
Dani Harmer is Tracey Beaker.
Victoria Pendleton is Pendledrama.
Rachel Riley is Numbersbitch.
Alison Hammond is Funnity 2.

All of these are used intermittently - some more frequently than others.
Krotchtina... Cba to look up how to spell her name . K rhianoff
More for the glossary -

Blankley - Christine Bleakley, whose face was even blanker than Jay's

Blankley II - Her off the One Show who is so blank I can't even remember her real name.
Alex Jones

We also had:

Afghan - Camilla Dallerup - so called for the breed of dog being willowy, tall and long blonde hair.

Wiggy - Darren Bennett - his hair looked suspiciously syrup-like.

Ourleona - Aliona. I think Brucie mispronounced her name.

Ricky Nipple - Ricky Whittle

Alibot- Ali Bastian.

Bobby -Robin Windsor.

No you are not in the wrong thread. You can like whoever you want. I totally admire Kellie's work ethic. Combining job, family, and SCD must be so tiring. She is what we call a trooper.

So do I! But then I am fond of Grimsby. I can appreciate others unappreciating them though I voted for them last week, extra votes cos all my votes go to Katie but once/if she goes this week my votes will move to K&K. I know they won't win but I prefer them to Jay, Georgia and Anita. I like all of them above Anita.

Nope, not the wrong thread, exactly the right thread, hold your views with pride, just don't tell someone else they're wrong for feeling differently. I still like Chris and Ola, which disagrees with a lot on here, and I'm still standing (Fews bruises and scars and they all gang up and point and laugh at me sometimes, but still here )

She's growing on me slightly. The VW last week was the first dance of hers I've truly liked. I still don't rate Kev though.

Each to their own

I don't dislike them. Kellie is a pure, old fashioned trouper.
Do the job, don't complain and that work ethic is impressive.

I'm staring to find Kev hilarious
Three years, possibly 3 finals and he is starting to get the slightly crazy, twitchy look of someone who's thrown everything in the ring and still knows he's going to finish equal second/third. He's basically running on show fumes at the minute.
