Until recently I could watch BT sport on iPad, now I get an error code VC003 telling me that content is available only in UK. Thing is ,I AM in the UK! Have looked at their help pages, followed instructions to check 'Privacy' in 'Settings' and location is switched on, on the BT Sport app the correct 'location while using this app' is on, yet I still can't watch. The little window says the same thing- only available in UK. My location is shown as Liverpool, although I'm a few miles from there.
They suggest that my provider is routing content via Europe, and say change provider- how do I do this? Or use a Wi-Fi connection, which is being used anyway. Those suggestions are via their FAQ page.
This is so annoying, why such things can't be sorted easily is beyond me.
Any advice and definitive instructions would be most welcome...

It may help if you tell us a bit more about how your tablet is connected to the internet?

Who is your ISP?
Are you using any DNS services such as Unblock-US?

Finally, have you tried just turning your router off and on?

ISP is TalkTalk, originally Tiscali.
I switch the router off and on each day., as a matter of routine.
WiFi connection.
Incidentally,Stig, I deleted a load of stuff- can't recall how now, but thought I'd blundered in so doing, as the next day the iPad wouldn't start- the Apple symbol appeared, but it then stayed and nothing could shift it. The next day I again powered the device on, the symbol appeared again, stuck again, but I left it and after an hour or so the iPad sprang into life and is working normally again.
The only downside is that I have had to re-register/log-in to several sites that require it, including this one. So far, though, the ' limited storage ' window has not made a return.
I've not yet re-tried to access BT sport though...

Why? The guidance was always that routers should be left on as repeated disconnections fool the ISP into misreading repeated disconnections as line problems, so the linespeed is reduced and each time it takes a few days to come back up to optimum. Electronic components last longer if they run at a constant temperature rather than heating up & cooling down, and the qty of electricity that a router uses is so small that any gains made by switching it off overnight are swamped by leaving a light on for a bit longer than necessary.

Maybe your repeated disconnects are part of the problem.

None are absolute arguments for leaving things on, but permanent connectivity is preferable anyway. My current hi-fi components haven't been switched off for 3 years since the day I plugged it all in. The manufacturer advises keeping it on, and the switches are inaccessible round the back. It stays on and is always ready for instant use.

I wonder with the constant switching off of the router are you messing up your IP address, perhaps the app doesn't like constantly changing IP addresses?

I think it can tell the difference between being turned off deliberately once a day and frequent intermittent disconnects. That said for devices like a router that are designed to run 24/7 then, yes, best to leave them turned on.

There's no way you can mess up an iPad by just deleting 'stuff' unless you are using some weird file editing program via a Mac/PC. If your iPad keeps freezing then there is something wrong with it and you need to get it repaired/replaced.

Also, as above, stop turning your router off. ADSL is designed to be left on to get the best speeds.

Comments duly noted. Here's an update on the BT Sport situation: I decided to delete the app and re-instal. Well, I thought I'd deleted it, but it is still showing on my iPad as an app. However, I tried BT Sport again, and, guess what, it worked normally as it had before it started playing up! So I didn't need to re-instal anyway.
I should say that I am not a BT subscriber, but my pal, who is, can use BT Sport on two devices and has kindly let me use my IPad as his 'second' device. Obviously I am signed in under his details, password etc. Good,eh? ( Not a word to BT, mind...)

You may well have just forced the app to stop and restart / reboot itself which I have found is sometimes what is needed for apps on my Android tablet to get them working again.
