P C acting

I don't mean this as a general slur on P C's acting ability, but I just don't find him believable as The Dr. His monologues come across badly and I find the way moves about (running and even walking) is just odd. I'm sure that this is a carefully crafted character that he has created, but to me, it just doesn't work. This, coupled with the new, angrier incarnation, is difficult for me to warm to.

And lots of people hated Tennant's loud mouth cockney gurning style of Doctor, not to mention Smith's manic, arm waving, running around interpretation.

Not knocking your opinion at all, but just pointing out that there's yet to have been an actor who suited everyone when they played the Doctor. Capaldi isn't for you, but I love his style. Horses for courses, I guess.

Guilty.

Personally I find it far easier to believe this is the same man who travelled in the TARDIS back in the old days than I have any other incarnation of the Doctor since the revival. I also find the troubled, anti-hero type to make for a far more interesting lead than, say, Tennant, who felt too genetic and "perfect" in my opinion. I don't find it too different from Tom Baker's Doctor who, though not as angry or serious, was often at odds with himself and his surroundings.

Peter Capaldi is just a great actor, too, and his voice gives me chills. One moment he's your grumpy but lovable sod of a grandfather, other times he's a volatile and intimidating force who can't hold himself back.

I loved Tennants shouting and enthusian but sometimes it was a bit OTT like he seemed to breathe heavily and be shouting in his Esturary accent every second while running down a corridor. I liked Nines style alot better

I don't like capaldis dr .. But you can't knock the guys acting chops.. I thought the fact he carried heaven sent on his own is a testament to that fact

Capaldi is a fantastic actor, but the writing for him is terrible imo

I liked Matt Smith but Peter Capaldi seems to have so much more gravitas in the role.

As has been said already .. horses for courses; each actor will try and make the character his own, which is one of the enduring threads throughout the series.

I always like the first meeting between the Companion and the reinvented Doctor .. he's the same person but he's also so different too. Brilliant!
