Because in The Impossible Planet The Doctor said they were grown not built so it would pretty cool to see them being grown.

I'm in favour of seeing other TARDISes but the idea of them being grown instead of built is a bit naff.

I think that silly concept has been quietly forgotten.

But if they did show it, it would make the TARDIS seem that much more cool to me, I hope we get to see other legendary Time Lord technology in the episode.

But assuming their chameleon circuits are working, would we be able to see them anyway? I thought the idea was for them to blend in with their surroundings.

Isn't that just when parked? It's not like a Star Trek "cloaking device", despite McGann's Doctor using that term.

There's at least one new TARDIS as it's seen in the Next Time Trailer.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few other parked next to it but I doubt we'll see hundreds.

I like it. It makes much more sense as to why the TARDIS has a soul to say that it has been organically grown than to wonder how someone could build something with a built in soul (answer:they couldn't)

TARDIS was made up by Susan Foreman if I remember correctly. It is a time capsule used by the Time Lords, and was a 'Type 40' in those days until the Doctors 'Capsule' was considered a relic and confined to demolition! They were never 'grown' - they were constructed and built by the Time Lords. The TARDIS is a MACHINE with a bit of Telepathy thrown in with it!!
Well, that's my opinion anyway!

So you're saying The Doctor was lying and The TARDIS is manmade but somehow alive? I know The Doctor always lies but he seemed sincere when he said it and the advanced technology the TARDIS has would make sense to me that it was grown, it would be much more interesting imo. Maybe the TARDIS was grown organically and used them orb thingies from Journey to the center of the TARDIS to construct its interior, ik this might not be the case but I like to think it is.

Tardises sounds about right. Time and relative dimention in spaces. Or i suppose it woild be 'dimensions in spaces'.

Does that make sense? It's entirely possible I've just gone mad.

Since it's Gallifrey, I think we may see the odd cylindrical capsule 'true form' TARDIS as seen in name of the doctor hanging around the place.

So if the Doctor has arrived on Gallifrey, where is his Tardis? Surely that would be there. He could get one of the other Time Lords to repair the chameleon circuit, so that the ship blends with it's surroundings.

On another note, it looks as though Steven Moffatt has 'rebooted' Gallifey and undone everything that happened during the Time War so it didn't happen in the first place.

If that's the case, then the events of the book 'Engines of War' and some of what happened in the TV story 'Day of the Doctor' have been erased.

That will be the Valeyard. You've seen all four stories that make up The Trial of a Time Lord and now you feel sure all Time Lords are evil. Not just The Master and The Rani.

Even in Arc of Infinity set mostly on Gallifrey, there was an evil Security Guard called Maxil, played brilliantly by Colin Baker.

If you have been watching, you'll know that the doctor was teleported to his confession dial prison from earth, where he left his TARDIS, and which is the last place we saw it, with rigsy using it as a Clara memorial. There is no reason to believe it is anywhere than still on earth unless we see otherwise in the next episode. I'm sure he'll be reunited with it by the end. He may even borrow one to get back to it.

I think he leaves that old TARDIS on earth as a memorial to Clara and nicks a new one from Galifrey.

The Doctor's people are such arses, full of themselves.

In "The Doctor's Wife," we see the Doctor build a simple TARDIS. He does in in such a way that it suggests building a TARDIS is e equivalent of a Boy Scouts badge for a Time Lord. ie. its something they all know how to do.

But on top of that, he can't get a functioning TARDIS without the assistance of the TARDIS matrix, which suggests there's a separate, vital component that cannot be manufactured. The fact that the Doctor overlooked this would suggest its something so commonplace that a Time Lord wouldn't even consider it under normal circumstances.

So I'd say that a TARDIS, as a construct, is completely manufactured. The box itself is an artificial shell, built mechanically. But the heart of a TARDIS - the thing that actually makes it "go" - is a life form. Perhaps some sort of ethereal consciousness that also inhabits Gallifrey and the Time Lords developed a symbiotic relationship with. The Time Lords nurture its offspring and build it a body to live in. In return, it give the TARDIS the power it needs to successfully navigate the vortex.

So a TARDIS can be both built AND grown. The physical box is built and the "soul" is grown.

K9 told Romana he had the plans for building a TARDIS in his memory in case she ever needed to build one in order to leave n-space. Build not grow.

Indeed. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the Doctor's Tardis is referred to as a 'capsule' by Maxil in Arc of Infinity, if memory serves, he refers to it as the [Lord] President's time capsule which since which, I've always believed that it was just any old time capsule. TARDIS was indeed a name made up by Susan, although I think that has now been forgotten.

Also, up thread, the chameleon circuit was mentioned. I remember either reading or it was referred to in an episode that a time capsule's chameleon circuit does not operate on Gallifrey.
