I hope it's fab as they have been consistently good and criticised for being OTT. Rather that than boring as they all chose to be on the show!

Damn it TPTB - we should've had an Argentine Tango.

The fact London (where Oliver is set) is a few thousand miles away from Argentina needn't matter.

Think it'll be a good dance though - Kevin and Kellie will get right into their roles.

I am no longer sure Kev knows what subtle is anymore. Not since the light sabres.
That charleston
That paso
That samba
I am sure he will play the Artful Dodger like he is ON Broadway.
Ah well. The musical Oliver always brings a smile though due to a silly silly joke years back. Jamie Oliver was getting flak for pukka this, pukka that (he was not yet Saint Jamie at that point).
So there was a picture of him with the strapline Jamie Oliver The Musical: then underneath a somewhat gurny photo....Consider Yourself (a c**t).
Again, joyous...but not subtle.

I think this will be their swan song. I think they will be in the bottom 2 with Helen and judges will save Helen over everyone

I think this is an excellent set up! This could be incredible! The VW is all about footwork and spins, both of which Kellie is excellent at. The outfits and the song should all add to it. I think this will be enough to (rightfully) save Kellie for another week! I certainly hope so!

My concern is Oom Pah Pah! has a very defined beat. Usually this helps in Ballroom but I can't help feeling that it will come across as staccato in nature. Instead of the smooth grace and elegance of the Viennese Waltz they'll be exaggerating the rise because the music dictates it.

Nail it, though, and it could bring the house down.

It's in the hands of Dave Arch. The way they latinised the Jackson 5 last weekend transformed that song for salsa. It's in the hands of Kevin too of course. He could make it stolen and demotic and romantic, or he could go all cor blimey on us

To be fair there are a few of salsa remixes of Jackson material about that don't owe their existence to Strictlifircation. This was a real floor filler at salsa clubs a few years ago.

I think we can be pretty sure that our hopes for a pretty 1930s evening dress are never going to realised

I think even he will struggle to get rid of the thump on the first beat of every bar in Oom Pah Pah.
It isn't a song to bring out the classy, lady-like side of Kellie in a classic ballroom dance, that's for sure. If there is one to start with, of course.

Also, I know zip about dance, so for all I know it might be a great VW song.

(edited for stupid spelling)”

my thoughts too

it seems to jaunty (for want of a better word) for a dance that is meant to be flat and swirly - does that make sense

the emphaise in the music (the ohmm pa pa bits) doesnt scream elegance and sophisticated VW to me

The badly treated Bullseye! If Anton wasn't still in the comp. they could have had him come on and kill Kellie at the end!

I do like Kellie BTW - but it would add a certain something.

Kevin did a good VW with Frankie last year to What's New Pussycat with plenty of omm pa pa in it will depend on the arrangement of course - an arrangement similar to the one used on the show I'd do anything on BBC would be ok

Just my feeling - but after they ended up in the b2 with the waltz, I get the impression Kellie and Kevin are convinced that stories help them, and I don't think they'd have gone near a simple traditional VW in a pretty dress for anything. We don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was their choice, given other songs Kevin has said he asked for. They are going to use it to play up her Eastenders identity, as well as having one of the best known of the songs selected.

Neither does being dressed up as Nancy and The Artful Doger, somehow ...

Thanks for that.

I loved that series and the Joseph one too.

In the film, Nancy gets the tavern crowd dancing á la VW to distract everyone while she secrets Oliver away and I don't suppose dancing was only for the nobility.
The Dickensian theme will liven up a potentially boring choice of dance.
I think this will really suit the tomboyish side of Kellie and I'm looking forward to it
