Why are people saying Helen will be in the DO this week?

Bearing in mind she is often 2nd in people's choices I hope she does stay, with the 3 free votes you can throw one or 2 for your favorite and one for your second favorite

She us after all 2nd in the favourite poll where you can only vote once.

If her dance is good she should be saved over Anita who has still not sorted out her feet and Georgia her shoulders. Definitely over Katie and her wobbles, , Kellie and Jay depends on their dance

I have just been looking at all the songs for this weekend's musicals theme and I recognise them all for the exception of "At the End of the Day" from Les Miserables. I do think that the other contestants, apart from Helen have got appropriate choices; in particular Kellie who will be dead comfortable with "Oom Pah Pah" from Olivier!

I also think Helen has had to put up with ridiculous rumours that she is the "bitchiest contestant that has ever been" on the show from gossip magazines like OK and Closer. Her posh accent and reserved attitude make people in general feel wary of her and I find that very unfair

I think it's doubtful she would go even if in the d/o. Judges will save I think.

I think they would save her too.

Helen is an utter sweetheart and a lovely dancer. Tbh the only ones I'm interested in seeing the finale are her and Jay. Katie isn't good enough, Anita is barely any better (and she's paired with Gleb who I can't stand) and Kellie and Georgia are just...there. I don't really find either of them interesting.

Of course Jay will win - he could come and sit on the floor, rip up pictures of that toddler and his fanbase would still vote for him - but I hope Helen is there too. I don't mind who the other two are.

I think the music is going to destroy her chances of avoiding the dance-off, far more than her dancing ability. The Les Miz song is supposed to be performed by the entire company - and will be done in this case by 4 session singers. They're good singers, just not Broadway belting kind of good - and that's what you need - plus sheer numbers of singers makes the song, and they haven't got that.

There's been quite a few occasions, IMO, where the dancers have been tripped up by the audience not liking the song/singers' performance and it not really mattering how well the actual dance was performed. In addition, the actual subject matter of the song just doesn't translate well to a stand-alone 90-second performance. It's going to be edited to shreds, and the only thing that they are interested is the initial paso-timed opening bars, and that won't be sustained for the whole song. Yeah, despite Helen's ability, I suspect she's being scuppered by the least suitable song choice, and a smaller fan base than the others at this stage.

Yes he could. And Gleb could come on in his pants and drag Anita round the floor a la John Sergeant for a couple of minutes, Georgia could say "Madforit, sorted" like a mantra to the backing track of She Bangs the Drums, Katie could knock back 15 Jaegerbombs and pass out, Helen could have a full blown breakdown and spend her dance kissing Darcey's feet and Kellie could... I dunno... twang Kev's braces and recite the Oxford Dictionary of Cockney Rhyming Slang and their fanbases would vote for them too. Par for the course at this time of series .

She will be gone by the final. So will Kellie. We will have Jay, Anita, Georgia and Katie in the final. I reckon Katie will be the Sophie EB of this year, and Jay will win.

I have predicted her in a Helen vs Kellie DO this weekend because:

1. If fair, then she will be on first. Thus far she is the only one to have never opened the show. Opening the show sometimes means marking lower, as otherwise they have nowhere left to go if doling out tens straight away. I am predicting 32.

2. I did not like her tango face and as she is usually very classic porcelaine doll as opposed to fiery smouldering senorita, I am really not sure what to expect on Saturday. She might pull it off, she's an actress, but I am not keen on the music and not sure whether it will be her dance.

3. I think Jay and Anita have stronger fanbases. Georgia has been on an upward curve the last few weeks and will get the kids' mums' votes on Saturday and Katie has a more popular song and Anton's fanbase/ballroom choreo.

So that leaves Helen and Kellie. But Helen WILL get saved over Kellie so I would not be stressing until the semis. That one will be interesting...she has jive on her cv, so long legs or not, they might have been saving it. She will only lose out imho to Jay or Georgia.

Did you not get the memo? It's definitely only Jay fans who behave irrationally and ovary vote because they want to mother/shag/knit him a nice jumper or something.

I don't think the Paso will suit her and I think several contestants probably have stronger fan bases.

I also agree that the running order might make a difference.

I didn't get the memo. (Why didn't I get the memo? Are irrational Jay fans trying to exclude slightly more rational ones? Are they using left over ones to make Kellie's dress out of?) I apologise. I shall know better in future.

I also apologise for my post above. As if Katie would pass out after a mere 15 Jaegerbombs. Lol.

Next time there is a memo going about could use let me know. I nearly acted rational

Mainly because she's not popular with the public. The only thing that kept her out the bottom 2 that week was she was top of Leader board. If she falls to 3rd or even 2nd the. She'll be in bottom 2. No amount of judges comments will make
The public warm to her. She has no chance of winning. If it was a pure public
Vote she'd be long gone

She has escaped the dance-off when she was 6th of 10 on the leaderboard and Jamelia managed to escape the DO, and 6th of 8. If she really was as unpopular as you think she was she would have been in the dance-off on at least one of those occasions.

I've read this several times and it makes no sense to me. Doesn't not being in the dance off imply a certain amount of popularity with the public? Are you just saying that you don't like her so therefore the public don't like her?

Hey look, I like Jay! I think he did an amazing jive and some good other dances even if his performance has sometimes been lacking. It's just every time I pop on here to read a few threads his fans more than any come across as a bit....intense

Probably the sheer number of them - more voices shouting louder.

There is a certain 'intensity'

I like Anita very much but didn't vote for her last week as I hated the rhumba. Similarly I have also voted for Katie, Jay and Jeremy in previous week (using the 3 free online votes - I only fork out hard cash when it's the final and if I'm feeling especially generous ).

I think there are quite a few people like me who decide based on the dance/personality after the dances are over.

Think that can happen when a bunch of posters spend more time talking about the fans than the celeb, it makes them feel defensive maybe? Just a thought.

She could still have been bottom two in the vote on both those occasions...

totally this!

2 of them have got to be in the bottom 2 - it looks like that 1 couple will be Kellie and Kevin, due to the fact that they have been there twice already

I personally dont think the paso will suit Helen at all but I am willing to be proved wrong

Not true, in week 9 the lowest she could have been is 2nd from the bottom, with Jamelia being bottom and Peter 3rd from the bottom.
Otherwise, she would have been in the bottom 2 with Jamelia or Peter.
