Will Husbands of River Song be on the S9 box set? If it is, then they'll have to give it space before we finally get the S9 box set, which won't then be for ages!

I would say it's more likely to be on the series 10 box set.

I agree. That's certainly what's happened in previous years. And there'll be a separate release of The Husbands of River Song.

Wish Last Christmas and The Husbands of River Song where in the S9 box set

Especially with there maybe not being a full series next year, just add more to the confusion

I'm pretty sure Last Christmas will be included in the series 9 box set when the complete edition comes out. At least I hope so.

I'd totally forgotten about "Last Christmas" not having a proper home yet. I think it's because on my shelf, we've got the standalones like TDotD and TTotD and then S8 is soooo slim that it looks like that's the new standard format!

Would like it to go back to the standard things were before where the previous years Christmas special is always on the next years box set, as it still bugs me that you can own every series boxset and still be missing two episodes - Day and time of the doctor. Day of the doctor is kind of excusable, being a complete one off, but time of the doctor was a standard Christmas special and should have been included on a boxset.

As such, I would expect, or it would at least make sense to me, to include Last Christmas at the start of the series 9 boxset then have this years Christmas special on the series 10 boxset.

Of course if next year is a specials year then that would confuse things for the possible boxset inclusion of this years special even further.

All I know is, as someone who buys the boxsets, and has purposely held off buying last Christmas with the expectation that it would be on the series 9 boxset, I am now hoping that it will indeed be included.

I agree. If there is a full series next year, then I can see The Husbands of River Song being on that box set. However, if there is no full series next year, then they should put it (as well as Last Christmas) in with Series 9. Then, if there is no Series next year and, instead, it will be aired in early 2017, next year's Christmas Special can go on the Series 10 box set.

2 dvds i have picked up in the last 2 weeks. Downtime £9.99 from Amazon and series 9 part 1 from the BBC shop for £11.49. Wasn't going to get this but the price dropped on cyber Monday and with the promo code XMAS10 which runs to 18th December. Not sure if I will get part 2 or wait until a complete boxset. Waiting until new year before I decide. Depends on price too.

With the series in spring (S1-6ish), it made sense for Christmas to be on the following series boxset.

With S8 being in autumn, it all gets messy. Last Christmas clearly belonged more to S8 than S9, seeing that S9 wasn't on screen until 9 months afterwards, but because the box set had to come out before Christmas, it couldn't be included!

This time The Husbands of RS could be included with S9, which would mean TWO Christmas specials on the one box set. On the other hand, it seems quite stand alone and without Clara so could be held over EXCEPT that it will be a LOOOOONG wait for the S10 box set!

I don't agree. In stories terms it was putting everything of series 8 behind it and starting off with the Doctor and Clara glory days travelling type stuff. Seems much more of an establishment of the Doctor and Clara series 9 set up than anything that came before with all the Clara home stuff.

Plus, they have already made their money out of a singular release of last chritsmas, so at this point, there doesn't seem to be a reason why they wouldn't want to include it for those of us who have waited.

To me it felt like the 13th episode of S8, episode 12 finished with them parting, but then in the closing credits Santa entered the TARDIS to bring them back together!

Last Christmas then covered the lies of Death in Heaven. It was only at the very end that the "glory days" was set up.

Either way, DVD releases are based on making money, rather than which episode fits where! TDTWATW doesn't really go anywhere, but ended up on the S7 boxset after angry complaints!

I don't suppose there's any chance of a DVD release for an entirely reconstructed Highlanders is there? Massively underrated story, and a favourite of mine being a Jamie fan. It's a shame so many Troughton stories are missing.

I heard a while ago that the Christmas specials would be completely separate releases to the regular season episodes. Last Christmas was re released on the 10 Christmas special dvd set so won't be out a third time. The complete season 9 set will be what it says on the tin. The 12 season 9 episodes.

With the release of that Christmas specials dvd, it now means that every Christmas special up to time of the doctor has been released 3 times, so last christmas being released two times means absolutely nothing. if it follows the trend it will be out on a third time on the series 9 set.

As i've said before, given that they have already had the single release of last christmas out for a good while, and already made their money off it, surely their would be no reason not to include it on the series 9 boxset.

Also, given that the series 9 part 1 and part 2 dvd's will already be out by the time the boxset is released, and may well be cheaper to buy than the new boxset, the boxset will need something extra to make it seem worth the extra money, so including last Christmas would make it a more attractive prospect and be a good advertising point to get people to buy it.

I will be disappointed if it isn't included, and I'll also be at a loss to see why.

I got Downtime on DVD the day it came out. I bought it off eBay for around £11. At the time, it was the cheapest listing even with free postage. I haven't watched it yet. I've only seen a small clip, plus a trailer on YouTube.

I've not watched any of the first six episodes of DW S9 on DVD yet, either. Not since their original broadcasts that is. I may re-watch The Magician's Apprentice two parter sometime before Christmas.

Looking forward to getting Series 9 Part 2, which is out in just over four weeks from now.

My local Barnes & Noble was having a 50% off British TV sale this week, so I picked up a bunch of Pertwee serials which I still needed including The Three Doctors, The Green Death, Invasion of the Dinosaurs, The Sea Devils, The Curse of Peladon, The Mutants and Carnival of Monsters.

I now only need three more Pertwee serials.

I dont understand why they have released parts again. I thought they were going to do what they did last year and release the complete series after its finished and then the christmas episode separately.

I'm sure the parts were brought back as there wasn't time to get the full series box set out properly before Christmas maybe? Although, clearly there are a good couple of weeks here where they could have!

I've always bought the parts, rather than the boxsets, and it's annoying now that Series 8 alone is a complete boxset. Worse still, a low quality box set - I'm only glad I happened to find it for a tenner shortly after release somehow!
