Im sure they have found more episodes but it all depends when Philip Morris can be bothered to release them.

Sometime this year.

Since they haven't started filming yet (Spring 2016 was the date given for that) it's going to be Sept/Oct at the earliest before it airs.

Probably be a DVD release before Christmas.

Little thing, but Amazon have a Series 9 Steelbook.

The Alice X. Zhang artwork was chosen by Capaldi.

Well now, isn't that just a little bit sexy?

And total screaming genius.

I might just have to cancel my BBC Shop order and indulge myself!

Man, that is nice.

My main Doctor Who watching group should be finishing up Pertwee sometime this year. We are currently watching The Three Doctors, which is hilarious, by the way. "A Dandy and a Clown!" LOL! The only sad part is that it was Hartnell's last on-screen appearance as The Doctor. Troughton and Pertwee would make it back for The Five Doctors (and Troughton yet again for The Two Doctors), but Hartnell was gone by then.

Anyways, I went to my local Barnes & Noble and I picked up The Time Warrior, Death to the Daleks and The Monster of Peladon today. This completes my Pertwee. Now, I just have four more Davison, three more Colin Baker and The Underwater Menace (which releases next month) and I will have all of the extant 20th Century Doctor Who.

Then, it will just be a matter of finishing up my 21st Century Doctor Who (come on US Blu-Ray releases of Series 1-4!).

Well, I have indulged myself. Not too much more expensive than the regular box set.

Thanks for the info, CD93!

Cancelling from the BBC Shop was a bit of a faff - you have to send an email to Customer Service. Not as easy to cancel as with Amazon, where they have a cancel button, but still OK.

The Three Doctors is fantastic. Troughton's silliness is a bit over-exaggerated, but it was a lot of fun seeing Pertwee's arrogant, showy-off, classy persona getting impatient with Troughton's friendlier and more Alice in Wonderland-esque character. My two very favourite Doctors behind only Tom Baker, plus The Brigadier, Jo and Benton and a new villain in the form of Omega.

It was a shame Hartnell couldn't do much but he did make up for it by getting some of the best lines.

I can see why he likes it... he looks very much like Pertwee in that picture with that shock of hair. It's one of those pictures where you could very much mistake him for a classic Doctor rather than the current one.

Thanks for posting that info. I may well have to make this my first NuWho series box set purchase since series 1!

Yes. I love this one too. Hartnell does get all the best lines - usually at the expense of his "replacements".

Sorry, can't resist quoting this :

DOCTOR 1: [on scanner] Ah, there you are. I seem to be stuck up here. Hmm? Hmm? Oh, so you're my replacements. Huh. A dandy and a clown. Have you done anything?

DOCTOR 2: Well, we've, er, assessed the situation.

DOCTOR 1 [on scanner]: Just as I thought. Nothing.

DOCTOR: Well it's not easy, you know.

DOCTOR 2: It's not as if we know what that stuff is.

DOCTOR: No.

DOCTOR 1 [on scanner]: Then I'll tell you. It's a time bridge.

DOCTOR 2: It's a what?

DOCTOR: I see.

DOCTOR 1 [on scanner]: Now, what's a bridge for, eh?

DOCTOR 2: Well, er

DOCTOR: Crossing?

DOCTOR 1 [on scanner]: Right. So stop dilly-dallying and cross it!
(The image fades.)

DOCTOR 2: No! No wait!

DOCTOR: You faded him again.

DOCTOR 2: I did not fade him. You saw

DOCTOR: Yes, you certainly did.

JO: I hate to ask, but who was that?

DOCTORS: Me. Me!

That's stunning. The only criticism is that the Doctor and Clara are looking away from each other!

It makes me wonder what it would have been like to see Hartnell with some of the other Doctors. I don't think he would have had much patience with the fourth. :P

According to a member on gb more region 1 dvds have gone out of print. City of death, the happiness patrol, dragonfire, the krotons, colony in space, the sensorites and attack of the Cybermen. No news of any region 2 deleted dvds at the moment. Doesn't appear to be a date for underwater menace yet either.

If this is correct, then this is the second tranche of Region 1 DVDs to have gone out print. This saddens me greatly. The only silver lining is that I have all of them already. It does make me want to greatly hasten picking up the final eight (including The Underwater Menace) DVDs that I need to complete the 20th Century Doctors.

But don't they simply produce more copies once a title has gone out of print?

I know this doesn't happen with other TV shows from past (they will re-release the show completely with new packaging if at all -like The Prisoner for instance, depending upon popularity of the show). But with classic Who stories I'm thinking they will simply run another batch. An example of this here in Region 4 (Australia/ NZ), is The Two Doctors. I couldn't find it in store or online (across Australasia) anywhere so I ordered a copy from the BBC store UK. About 6 months later it has reappeared and you can now pick it up anywhere. The same seems to have happened with other earlier releases -i.e. post special edition releases from around 2005-08.

So all is not lost but I'd be interested to hear from others if this is the case/ correct.

Oddly enough, this has not been the case here in the US with Doctor Who. The 19 or 20 titles that went out of print with the first batch have remained out of print. They are not making any more and, at this point, I don't expect them to do as such. it is really sad.

Edit: And seriously, City of Death? This is an ultra-classic serial that is on many lists of where to start with Classic Doctor Who. Why in the world would it go out of print?

Maybe because Tom Baker is a very popular Doctor in the States, this is a popular (and good) story, and they simply underestimated the demand for this title -?

I feel sorry for you. This is definitely not a story I'd want missing from my collection & I'd happily trade it with any story from the 6th or 7th Doctor (if I had to have one missing story).

I must say I went a little crazy with my classic Who purchases between 2011 and 2013, scooping up all the DVD's (over half) that were missing from my collection, where I was buying whenever they were on special in case they went out of print here in NZ.

I'm sure the out of print ones will re-emerge.

Will there be any more Special Editions coming out, or have they run out of episodes which will benefit from an upgrade and more comprehensive extras?

The initial tranche of 19 or 20 went out of print here in the US years ago and only one has resurfaced (in a collection). None of the others have emerged.

By the way, how do we verify this information. I used to get mine from a guy's website who had been keeping track of the stuff for decades. Unfortunately, he recently went off the air and his site is no longer up. :/

I don't know if this has already been covered here but there are so many posts it would take some time to go through them. I have read somewhere that they are going to include both the last 2 christmas specials Last christmas and the husbands of River Song in the upcoming series/season boxset didn't know if anyone knew about this so i thought i would lay everyones minds at rest who keep asking if they will be included anywhere. I can only assume that next years christmas special will be at the beginning of the series 10 set as it will be Moffat's last series/season at the helm.

It does include both Christmas episodes.

With S10 delayed until spring 2017, if THORS wasn't included on the S9 boxset, it wouldn't be on one for over 18 months!

Last Christmas would have been on the S8 boxset, except that the BBC rushed it out before Christmas, not an issue this year
