No the "Lady" plus name bit only applies to the daughters of peers eg Ladies Mary, Edith and Sybil Crawley.
When a commoner marries in, they take their husband's title (eg Princess Michael of Kent) as opposed to getting their own - Princess Michael is never going to be Princess Marie- Christine, likewise Lady C is not and never was Lady Georgina Campbell. Likewise - their was a bit of a debate when the Prince and Princess of Wales divorced - and they realised that there would be a huge uproar if they stripped Diana of her title, and she unusually became Diana, Princess of Wales (without the HRH) - normally she would have been Princess Charles. Etiquette experts at the time also stated that she couldn't be Diana, Lady Spencer, Princess of Wales, as the only Lady Spencer is the current Countess. Diana and her sisters titles are also courtesy titles but held in their own right so they can keep them regardless. Had Diana remarried, she would have become Lady Diana, Mrs Joe Bloggs, just as Princess Anne is known as The Princess Royal, Mrs Timothy Lawrence. On a more achievable level for most of us - should our husbands ever get knighted, we would be Lady (Surname) - eg Sir Bruce and Lady Forsyth - she is not Lady Wilnelia! Interestingly - Diana's sister is these day known as Lady Jane Fellowes - she and her husband are Sir Robert and Lady Jane Fellowes because she is a Lady in her own right - otherwise she would just be Lady Fellowes. All a bit archaic these days, but snobs Like Lady C cling to their courtesy titles as they think it makes them better than the rest of us. Last edited by Dix : 04-12-2015 at 01:04. Don't think she's that much of a snob, as she wouldn't have appeared on the show, let alone gone into a crummy jungle, infested with bugs of all sorts. The fact that she mingled with the oiks shows she can mix with them well. A real snob wouldn't have anything to do with outsiders, as they tend to stay within their own class.

Think she is a massive snob. She was just desperate for the money and desperate times mean desperate measures, all the time trying to pretend she was rich and aristocratic. Lady in title but absolutely no lady. Pity she is allowed to keep the title and no doubt the only reason she married the Lord.

I thought the title of this thread was referring to IAC winners title - seeing as she made the show and all that.

She is a hypocrite trading on the name of a bloke she hated and who she left just after nine months of marriage . From an article in the Mail
"I could not have known Colin Campbell would turn out to be the debased, cruel monster he turned out to be," she says of their union, which seems to have been full of venom and violence. "I ended up having to have the right side of my face reconstructed two months after we were married." |

She of course is a massive snob, anyone who boasts of owning five tiaras in an argument to put someone she thinks lower than her is down is a hilarious snob,. If she does indeed own five tiaras they will be paste, she is desperate for the money, she has no class, anyone with an ounce of class would never dream of boasting what they owned, only people with no money boast of having it.....She is an absolute fraud.

She said she did drop it but she was known by that name as an author and her publishers insisted she kept it. She jokes about Campbell being a very common name and would prefer to have reverted to her prominent family's more unique name Ziadie.
Quote:
According to her autobiography she wrote to the newspapers in the UK and the USA to stop using the Lady title when she got divorced as she no longer wished to use it. They carried on using it and her publishers insisted she use it so it became how she was mostly known. She says she only uses it in those two countries and is better known by her family name in Jamaica and France.
It probably suited the show as well, not to have a Georgina when they already had a George and a Jorgie. |

Of course she is a snob. Why else would she insist on them calling her Lady C all the time?
When they had a real life Lord on the show a few years ago (Lord Brocket), he was absolutely gorgeous with no airs and graces at all. He cheerfully mucked in with the rest of them, insisted on being called Charlie, and even went so far as to change the name on his jungle clothing to simply Charlie. He was a great campmate. She's just a shopkeepers daughter from Jamaica - no Lady at all, and definitely just one of the oiks she so despises herself! Her family don't seem to be that prominent either - virtually nothing comes up when you google the name their main claim to fame is her - and one of her cousins is a musician of some kind - that's all. I'm sure she could have easily upgraded her title if only half her stories of noble lovers were true, but the fact that she hangs on to the Lady Colin for grim death (and has done for over 40 years) shows that no one of a higher rank has asked her to marry them. If she really wanted to revert back to being plain Ms Ziadie - why keep using the title in situations like this? Or when she goes out socially? |

So it's essentially a pen name/stage name now?

Yep - but I don't go around pretending to be an aristocrat and thinking everyone else is beneath me.
I'm a policeman's daughter and proud of it! I also say that ladyc may be many things including being rude and hot tempered but I have seen nothing to suggest she looks down on people. |

Sorry. You can't criticise her for allegedly being a snob and make comments like her just being a shop keepers daughter.

I also say that ladyc may be many things including being rude and hot tempered but I have seen nothing to suggest she looks down on people. She called the viewers oiks She sat on her bed most of the time expecting the others to wait on her hand and foot.(yes she was great in the first couple of days but latterly she did sod all) She was forever bragging about how she was titled form birth and how famous she was She couldn't have been more arrogant and dismissive of "ordinary people" if she had tried. And it's more laughable because as I said - she is NOT an aristocrat at all - she's a shopkeeper's daughter, so just an ordinary person herself and no better than the rest of us! She clearly lives in a fantasy world of her own creation, and has been telling lies for so long that she has started to believe they are true. The trouble with coming on a show like this is that it tends to reveal more about you than you ever intended. I'd imagine that some of her society friends would have been cringing at her behaviour, and she may find herself dropped like a hot potato. She's made herself a laughing stock with all that ranting and swearing and hurling of insults. |

I was thinking the exact thing. They are divorced - why would she still want a name that was so heavily associated with her ex husband???
Because she can !! and..... it makes good economic sense !! Why is she slated so ? The jungle is far less interesting without her.

What difference does it make to anyone whether she use the title or not? Suddenly because she was a contestant in a reality game show people are concerned whether she has a right to use it or not. Let's not let it bother us as it does not affect us at all does it?
