Not Onlys Sir Brucie Back OnThe Strictly Christmas Show - Weve a "Brucie Bonus" On Downtown Abbey.

Whilst I am also worried for Linda, when I was reading my Womans Own mag this week my eye was caught by an article on page 6 about Strictly Come Dancing "TV Legend" Sir Brucie returning to our screens this month appearing in a Downtown Abbey special for ITV's Text Santa on the 18th of December.

Do you think Sir Brucie will be upstairs or downstairs ?

Are you looking forward to Sir Brucie being back where he should be at the Strictly helm on The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas show ?

Not really.

He stepped down from the main show & that IMO should be across the board.
I don't think it's fair on Claudia that Bruce takes her place for CIN & the Xmas Specials.

Are there any good recepies in Woman's Own this week Terry?

All that means is I'll record both programmes and fast forward through Bruce's parts. I can't stand the man and it's about time he retired gracefully. I agree it's very unfair on Claudia that the BBC keep wheeling him out for "specials" and leave her out. And what the heck is he doing in Downton Abbey? How could they spoil the final programme like that?

From reading Terry's post, I don't think it's the Christmas special of Downton itself, more like a 'special' filmed for the 'Text Santa' thing which is completely separate (and I guess much like the 'specials' filmed for CIN on the BBC).

I am hoping that's the case anyway. I don't hate Bruce or anything (I don't hate or dislike anyone as that would be futile). I just don't particularly enjoy watching when he's on SCD. And it IS unfair to Claud.... But i can record and fast forward ...

Brucie on Downton? He could play Violet's uncle, he's old enough.

Its entirely appropriate that Sir Bruce should present these prestigious Strictly Come Dancing key shows, he is a Living Legend of an entertainer, we should be grateful.

why

Bruce is the one who should be grateful for us Licence Fee Payers, after all we're the ones who has paid his wages & kept him in a job for decades.

Wheeling him out twice a year to do Strictly Specials is an insult to us but also to Claudia.
Claudia REPLACED Bruce in the main shows, whether you like her or not she works hard for these shows, so why should Bruce take the limelight from Claudia and push her aside.

Now if all three (Bruce, Tess & Claudia) did these Specials, that's a different story, I am all for that. But what the BBC is doing is just feeding Bruce's inflated ego & insulting Claudia.

Statement from the BBC:

The BBC today released the following statement regarding Sir Bruce Forsyth and the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
The Strictly Christmas Special, which records next week, will be too early for Sir Bruce Forsyth to have made a full recovery from his recent operation. Due to the long studio hours, he is unable to host the show but will still play a part in the production.

Sir Bruce will record a special video message for this year's celebrity line-up and the viewers at home, which will play out when the Strictly Christmas Special airs on BBC One on Christmas Day at 6:15pm.

Claudia Winkleman will take over the presenting duties alongside Tess Daly

Three pieces of good news today, and this was the third. Thank goodness, but I don't know why he needs to be involved with the production, I'm sure the production team aren't going to be happy.

According to the news, Bruce has had a very serious operation, common sense would tell him to completely give up any thought of returning to TV anywhere.

His reputation would be better perceived, if he'd taken that decision a few years earlier.

It now says he will record a special video message. Claudia and Tess are presenting the Christmas show.

Brucie must be asked to do these specials by the BBC unless some people believe he is capable of employing himself to do them.

Shall be looking out for the video he's recording because he's unable to do the show and the master of entertainment has my best wishes to continue to recuperate and get back to full health.

"I'm surprised the BBC didn't schedule his message to be transmitted before that of the Queen."

Sorry, I couldn't resist! But I do wish the old codger a speedy recovery.
