sainsburys ultra clumping cat litter

Sainsburys used to do the most fantastic cat litter in existence - very fine grains which formed perfect clumps very easy to remove and leave a clean box. Anyone else familiar with it?

Anyway, disaster! They've stopped making it. I haven't found any alternative which is even remotely as good. I realise this is a long shot, but is there anyone out there who used that stuff, and knows where I can get the exact same stuff made by someone else?

My cats would thank you. Their cat litter life has been AWFUL recently, haha..

There was a sign up by the cat litter in our local Sainsburys last week saying that they are having difficulty with the suppliers of their clumping cat litter. That's either true I guess, or it's a nice, friendly way of saying they don't make it any more

we've been using this for 2 or 3 months now. You can get a trial size bag to try it - I was dubious as our cats are fussy and won't use woodchip litter. This stuff is amazing - it clumps, and lasts for absolutely ages. Yes, it seems expensive but we've been on the same bag since September and are only just halfway through!

There was one at ours as well, they also had trouble with their Basic range of cat litter. But both seem to be back in stock.

Thanks for all replies! Really helpful. I hope it is just temporary, that would be good. If not I've bookmarked that other stuff - thanks Lorna.

If I remember I will have a look on the system tomorrow and see what it says the problem is, if they have done away with it then it will either go off the system or be logged as discontinued.

i will set my phone to remind me, when I get to work. I will let you know when I get back home about 5pm

It is still available, We are having 1 case of it in tonight, so three units, so I presume it will also get to the OP store. I must admit, 1 case is a bit low, so I am guessing they did have a problem with supplies.

I'd 2nd a recommendation for this litter if you can't get the Sainsbury one. My recently adopted cat didn't like the first litter I got so tried this. He seems more than happy with it and yes it's expensive but you use very little as once removing the deposits the rest remains fresh. The only downside is the litter seems to sticks to his paws so travels through the house. Not a problem for me but if house proud you will need to hoover often.

My cats also use the Sainsburys ultra clumping litter. Its back in stock now, but I also use Pets at Home own brand Ultra Performance clay clumping litter, which isn't much different, also the small grains, and my cats happily use it. It comes in an 8 litre bag for £6.50. Catsan also do a small grain clumping litter ( ultra effective clay clumping), again just as good, but a bit harder to find. Pets at Home do actually stock it but its only a 5 litre bag and its £6.50 so a little more expensive if you get through a lot of it. I have 3 cats so only use it when i can't get either of the others.

I get ultra fine litter from Zooplus, it's 14 litres for about £6, and Zooplus often has special offers. It's called Biokat's Micro Classic.

was just gonna say - our sainsburys has it because I was umming and ahiing over whether or not to buy it.

We've had Cersei for 10 months and used the regular clumping. We tried the wood stuff, I thought it was rank. Next up we just finished a massive bag of catsan non clumping which I wont buy again.

So decided to go back to clumping, but when we were in the store I couldn't bring myself to pay double for the Ultra. but upon reading this thread, it seems it is worth paying the extra though?

We always buy Bob Martin Antibacterial Lightweight litter, 6.48 for 20l, which is good value for money and to us, really good quality.

Aldi clumping - £1.69 for 10kg. No smells and get through about a bag a week. It's a big litter tray and we have two 7kg monsters. Got rid of the second tray as neither used it!

We have 9 cats who use one large litter tray. A 5 KG bag lasts about 3 weeks.Every day I filter out the clumps & add more litter as necessary.
