Have felt for the last couple of years, Ian Ward has been waisted just doing the truck thing for the test matches, worked just as good today, with the commentators using it. I guess the thing with having Ian there, was if Lord Gower had to miss a test or a break, then they had Ian to take over, you can't imagine any of the current bunch being able to present, saying that Nick Knight has done the odd blast game.

Wonder what will happen on Saturday for the live debate, I guess Athers could take charge. Then you have Cricket Writers on TV on Sunday, which I guess will not be Paul Allot, a shame the show will only be 30 minutes now, as have always preferred it over Sunday Suppliment, but has always been felt as secondary to Sunday Supp.

Maybe Nasser will do the test next week, and them give Bumble maybe a break

According to Charles Sale in Friday's Mail, Ian Ward will be presenting the ODI's and T20I's this summer. Possibly the reason for no Wardy.

I read about this Pod in a piece in the Telegraph a couple of weeks ago. It's a mobile, pitch side commentary box. Some counties are apparently not happy about it having recently been made to upgrade commentary facilities for TV Games.

Seems they're adopting the Big Bash style of coverage for the Blast with 3 commentators doing the presentation and commentary from the Pod.

The Sky Pod reminds me of the converted trailer ESPN used to park in the corner of non-league and lower league football grounds they covered FA Cup matches from.

In the 1990's ESPN used to cover F1 from the back of a People carrier (Mini Van), not to get "Closer to the action" but to be cheap and not pay for a Comm box.

James Taylor will be commentating tomorrow for sky on the test match.

Have to say I thought the Pod worked really well tonight; it put the commentators closer to the action and the atmosphere which injected more excitement into their commentary and it enabled players to pop in from the dugouts next door for a quick chat.

Good start to Sky's coverage of the T20 Blast all round, I thought, as it was an excellent match.

He's also part of the Friday night TMS t20 team on 5Live Extra too.

Thought the pod brought something to the coverage to be fair. Much better to have player interviews in the comm box rather than going to the dugout and have them talking over wickets etc.

James Taylor is due for a big operation next month all being well so i suspect he's getting in all the media work now before recovery starts.

So what happens to cricket writers on tv now?!

Mahela Jayawardena has been a classy addition to the commentary box really speaks well better then having Russel Arnold in there

Disappeared from my planner/EPG, and replaced with the highlights of Day 3

Would Cricket Writers be better on Saturday, because the rate test matches are going we hardly get to day 4 these days, well next Sunday it being Day 3 we might get a show.

But surely any lunchtime throughout the test, could be taken over to have a Debate about something/

Take yesterday David Gower made such a big hookah, over the show England in the 90's which, I am sure the amount of times it has been on, most who are interested would have watched it

No real competition really.
wonder what role Sangakkara gonna have in the sri lanka series.
Surely Jayawardene not doing all 3 test matches and ODI/T20s, Somerset would need him as well.

Jayawardene is expected to play 12 of the 14 somerset blast games.
Unless Finch replaces Sangakkara for Surrey so Sangakkara can cover games for Sky.

either that or Russell Arnold will commentate for sky.

Is Russel Arnold working for TMS? If not it seems strange that he's here just to do the verdict

Nope, they used Roshan Mahanama

Surprised they haven't used jayawardene either they generally have a touring summerizor as well.
But not too many Sri Lankan are covering the series only jayawardene, Roshan mahanham and Russell Arnold who is only at London for the series.

TMS has generally used Roshan as a ball-by-ball commentator the last few times that SL have been over here, and not had a SL summariser, IIRC.
Good Idea...ish

Think it's Roshan Abeysinghe who is working for TMS. Think both Russel and Roshan worked for TMS in Sri Lanka for the ODI's.

Interesting comment by sale, although this time sale made his opinion sound like an opinion and not a fact lol.

got the same opinion as him, think it is very likely that all england home t20 international will be on FTA although ECB would have to provide the production cost for it to happen.

Great the awful Warne in the UK.
Sky if you are reading this don't renew his contract.

Yeah, definitely an opinion. Although one I think most share.

The line below just confirms what a ridiculous situation we are in. A May test match (Sky's initiative) staged at a ridiculous cost (the ECB's doing) at an unsuitable venue.
Likely to be many empty seats whilst a football ground down the road will be full to the brim , for a FTA friendly.

Is it? It's in Sky's contract, which is why it can't be changed till 2020, but I don't think it was Sky's initiative - it was the ECB's initiative back in 2000 when the new summer schedule was set-up.

Sorry to nit-pick.
