To be fair Ali Martin of the guardian was tweeting his surprise yesterday. He asked sky at the T20 international and they said "no plans, its not in the schedule"
Didn't say who he asked though, perhaps it was Bumble

Have they ever announced the 2nd County Championship game they are going to show, until the final round of fixtures.

So Middx - Yorks is being shown live?
Somerset's game could be just as important, and down at the bottom Lancs, Warks and Hants are also involved. What a superb (if nail-biting for us Lankys) end to the season - if I were Sky's director I'd find a way of having all four games shown!

Think Cricinfo's website and the BBC's web/6x commentaries are gonna produce record domestic hits, will be interesting to compare to the 20/20 finals day. Also there's a chance of many bosses enquiring "it's unusual to have the flu in September..??"

Why the hell would Sky be interested in who gets relegated for.

And I am, sure if like other years, Sky will have a reporter at Taunton, which Sky will go to.

Expect more coverage of domestic cricket from sky. The news this week about the new T20 competition was a dose of smelling salts to sky. They'll be wanting to make nice with the ECB and the counties.

How much more could they realistically show, take a County Championship game they need a clear 4 days. Maybe they could show another County Championship game early in the season, but odds would be it would rain.

Next year, with the Internationals going onto the end of September, you will only get 1. County Championship game.

They could red button it. They have Mix now too. I'm not saying we will get a lot of 4 day cricket, more that sky will be keen to support all of the counties.

Wasn't there talk of sky selling packages in blocks like the premier league? Could mean with next deal more 4 day stuff if the cricket is split between broadcasters

Wanting to make nice? You think the counties would be on a safe footing if Sky turned around and walked away tomorrow?

Exactly this, with a Champions Trophy, Womens World Cup and dozens of internationals next season county won't be the priority

How much live content do you see Sky produce themselves and put on the red button?

Well obviously sky aren't walking away from the deal. They aren't idiots. They need to make nice because the ECB is hinting that they'll be willing to switch to BT.

Sky are going to be great friends of county cricket because it is in sky's interest to be so.

It's not in the interest of the ECB and counties to alienate them either.........you don't make money from a bidding war with just one party

If the County Championship (and how many games were shown) were that important to the ECB/counties they wouldn't be reducing the number of games to 14 and having unequal divisions

I didn't say anything about anyone alienating anyone though. My point was merely that it is in sky's interests to cover cricket in a very extensive way. It's their best argument against BT.

Losing the cricket would hurt sky more than losing the UCL in my opinion.

Test Matches
ODIs
IT20s
Womens ODIs
Womens IT20
Champions Trophy
Womens World Cup
England Under 19s
T20 Blast
RL50
County Championship

And that's just in the summer of 2017......I'd say they cover it pretty extensively as it is.

Be wary of confusing what you would like to see, with what you'd think the ECB would like to see. Currently they'd much rather see Sky showing 3 Womens ODIs if it meant showing one fewer Championship game

If I was sponsoring the county championship I would want to know FOR SURE how many games Sky were going to cover live.

How can Sky take this 'We'll see if it's worth it' attitude every September? 8 days tv exposure for my product being twice as many as 4.

According to the epg the game will be on Sky sports 1 to avoid a clash with the test match coming up i guess AND on sky sports mix

Another poor excuse for a one day cup final at Lords unless you are a Warwickshire fan.

Hardly a good advert for the game.

So what would you rather ? Sky drop it ? As a cricket fan I can honestly say I have never ever seen so much cricket on TV as there is now. I don't know how you can complain. I would rather this than it was before Sky got involved.

The county matches will get around 100,000 viewers. Put that on BT Sport and you get a fraction of that.

I was talking about what the counties might like, not what I want. It's not even really about what the ECB want, it's just about getting as many brownie points as possible.

That would be my first question..."how much exposure is my company going to get for our money?"

Could well be that Sky admit "not very much for the CC" and if they show more, then the contract with the sponsors is they pay more for the extra game. But the sheer lack of exposure on TV MUST put come companies off. Of course it's not just the TV, the popular tabloids all but ignore it and the broadies rarely send their own reporters.

Would Spexsavers WANT to pay more for more TV coverage though? They might like what they have now for what they pay.

I'm sure I heard they were looking to move the final to earlier in the year in the near future. It's the only way to fix what is always a thoroughly depressing game. Ok we had a quick heatwave a couple of days ago but it's generally safe bet that the weather in mid September will be cold and bleak. Players huddling on the balcony in big coats and wrapped up in towels to keep warm does not put you in the mood for a game of cricket. And it's no surprise that they always turn into low scoring affairs given the weather.

ECB should use their vast riches to build a ground in southern Spain where the Final will be held so we can all go and have lovely weekend over there at the end of September and know that weather's gonna be pretty good!

Next year 50 over final will be 1st July.

Confirmed by ECB a few days ago.
