That was depressing just typing that!”

Wasn't there a ODI, England in India, where there was Snow forecast? I know it's often cold in the early season in Durham and on the South Island of NZ. I've even seen (on TV) a US MLB game played in 20-22F (around -7C) that was pretty well attended. Point is that summer sports can be played in cold temperatures

The problem is, I think it'd be the norm rather than the exception. We also have the twilight problem.

I'm not against it and have long argued for day/nights Tests. I want to be able to watch it after work.

Sky ran an advert during the One day Cup Final for the winter matches on Sky

It was basically all Test Series except matches in Australia
And they showed the IPL

So BT must have the Big Bash then ???

Yes, they do.

Wonder if BT will do stand alone presenting for the big bash like sky did? Shame its going to bt as even though i have it, it means even the highlights won't get shown on SSN and there will be less of a buzz about it. Would often trend on twitter etc

I think there's going to be highlights on BT Showcase though which may help gain interest.

Really good coverage today.

What impressed me was when they went off for bad light, instead of moaning about it.

Im guessing it was because it was on mix, but found it Good Charles explained the lights not being able to turn on, as for those who haven't seen much cricket over the years, they explained why they couldn't be turned on.

Also hearing the umpires explain about there procedure when there is bad light, cant remember it being explained so fully before.

Charles even gave the Div 2 scores, because of viewers, maybe fans of Div 2 teams.

I guess a lot of this was due to it being on Mix

Haven't a clue of the name of the ground, but there is a Test ground in India on the edge of the Himalayas which might fit the bill, as Tests are played there in winter. On the plus side it's the dry season.

Of course any day without snow in summer in Buxton is a plus.

Must have been Delhi and dharamasala.
In 2012 the Delhi Odi game was so cold that it was colder than England at the time and they played a day night game in very cold conditions.
Was about 2 or 3 degrees and heavy frost in the morning.

Just checked they didn't play any Odi in Delhi but had 2 warm up games in Delhi while it had an abnormal cold period but they did play in dharamasala and it didn't snow at that game although do remember loads of reports from English journalist stating it normally snows in dharamasala during that time.

Delhi was freezing though for the players.
Kp and many of the English players tweeted during the week stay in Delhi.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cri...-in-Delhi.html

Was 4 degrees with a chilly fog in the morning.

India vs Pakistan played a day nighter in Delhi few days before this with temperature reaching around 1 in the night.

From Charles Sale: 'Greg James, the BBC Radio 1 DJ, is expected to be unveiled next month as host of BT Sport’s cricket coverage which starts in November with Australia’s Test series against South Africa.

BT’s cricket deal includes rights to the Ashes series the following winter. James co-hosted 5 Live’s Not Just Cricket show with England’s Graeme Swann and Jimmy Anderson and the three could be reunited.

Swann is set to be on the BT team and could be joined by Anderson if he is not selected for the Ashes tour.'

Now I normally take Sale with a pinch of salt, but that is quite random so I guess there's something in it.

An earlier interview about his love of cricket

Yes, because Anderson won't be taken to Australia next year...!!

Re, the Greg James story, it's plausible insomuch as James is a massive cricket nut, so that would fit in fine.

But he hasn't really got any journalistic experience (arseing around with Swann and Anderson on Radio 5 wasn't quite the same as hosting live coverage) and the question is begged as to how he can host test match coverage throughout the night and then do a drivetime show on Radio 1 all week. And if the Ashes are hosted on location (and it would be a major surprise if they aren't), there's no way James could continue to do his Radio 1 show. Would he really give up Radio 1 to be a full-time cricket presenter?

It's an interesting choice, that's for certain - and I look forward to seeing how it will working out. I am delighted that it won't be an ex-player as I think that particular dynamic needs shaking up (there's no need for the presenter to also be on the commentary roster). I would have loved Mark Chapman to have taken the gig, but I guess he's got a fabulous package with the BBC (across TV and radio) at present and wouldn't want to give that up.

Greg James hosting cricket on BT?

Sounds like top drawer terrible patter to match Jake on the football.

Nice gigs over the last 30 years: Des Lynam followed by John Inverdale then Mark Chapman.

didn't take long for manjreker to mention Panesar today.
can see this being repeated all winter, might be so annoying though when England tour and they repeatedly mention where is Panesar lol.

Looks like poor old Harsha has been banished to the sidelines by the BCCI indefinitely.
Would have thought Star Sports, he's employers would have put up more of a fight to have him commentate but as well know the BCCI calls the shots especially in terms of the commentators.

I know he can be annoying at times but much prefer Bhogle him to Sanjay.

There is one way to shut up Manjrekar up about Monty.

Get one of the English Comms, to tell him about Montys troubles, before they even go on air.

i am sorry to say this but Charles colville has complelty lost his way as a commentator in recent years and i think today proves it he is good on the verdict and should stick to that
