Vaughan confirmed earlier that bt sending comms to Australia for ashes and he will be commentating for bt and tms.
Swann, Gillespie, pointing, pieteren, Vaughan and some other Aussie likely to be the team.

Dizzy likely to be coaching a Big Bash franchise for part of the Ashes, meaning he would miss a chunk. A strong likelihood he'll be coaching a State full time though, meaning he'd miss it all.

Greg presumably taking a couple of months off from Radio 1 to go out there too? Or maybe he'll do his R1 show live from Aus. BT couldn't buy that kind of indirect promo.

In your scenario, The BBC paying to hire a radio studio on the other side of the world for 2 months whilst a guy is working his other job is going to go down well with the Daily Mail isn't it!

Hmmm, I suppose. And it's not like it would make any difference to The Daily Wail if BT covered Radio 1's costs, would it, so he'll probably just have to be covered whilst down under.

Interesting to see Flintoff has jumped ship so to speak to host a Channel 9 show...suspect that means he'll be doing some cricket stuff for them too. He's not going to be working for channel 10 and the big bash stuff

I really thought he'd be Botham's replacement when the time comes, what with already working for Sky on A League of Their Own and all.

If he's freelance, which very much suspect he is, then he will likely appear on Big Bash comms.

For Greg it would mean going on air at 5.00am Sydney time so maybe a one off before the first test? Simon Bates once did his Smooth Radio breakfast show from the Adelaide oval but that was a tourist promotion tie in.

BT Sport look a bit short of lead commentators from that list so I can see one of Nine's doubling up and KP doing the same. Hopefully Mark Taylor.

Surely the Aussies have enough of their own big, boorish, buffoons?
They don't need to steal ours.

It appears BT have sub-licenced some of it's Big Bash rights to Channel 5. C5 will show 5 live games starting of with Hobart Hurricanes V Melbourne Stars.

5 live games? Is that all they got?
Also, are the games exclusive to C5 or will BT also show them?

Sky are making Tim Abrahams redundant according to Charlie Sale. Real shame. Thought he did a great job on sky sports news.

Cutbacks like this are amazing when you think they are paying someone like Thierry Henry £5m a year. Abraham and Nick Collins provide much greater VFM than Henry.

And I hate it when people make comparisons like that, as if me affects the other but they do in this case imo

TBH they pay Beckham a lot for a few Adverts and promotion as well.

quite funny how Sale still talks about the poor cricket ratings even when Sky ratings were lower for Australia games lol.
"They add that their rivals' Australia v West Indies coverage this time last year averaged 9,000 viewers — worse than the 12,000 average for Australia's first Test against South Africa on BT."

Agreed, he has been Sky's premier England cricket reporter for the best part of two decades.

The article seems to imply that they're going to get their presenters and pundits to basically fill in with reports between Tests but there's a rather different skill involved in general reporting compared to the duties they currently do.

Yeah, I'm guessing his workload has increased significantly now without much of a pay rise. Key could do the job well if he was on tour too imo

Wasn't really much of a surprise since in the last 12 months Rob Key and Mark butcher have both done roles which in the past Tim abraham would do, the only role which the pundits would struggle with is the press questions although in cricket they may just use Atherton.

It only last 5 weeks, so that's 1 game a week on FTA tv. 1 game more than we've had in the last 18 months
