Don't agree everyone is in there on the same footing once they sign the contracts old has beens from the past don't necessarily make great tv.

It's an assumption this forum make time and time again

I agree, Dundeeboy - I don't mind reality stars as long as they are interesting. I don't watch any soaps, so to me the soap stars are as unfamiliar as the reality stars - and the soapies can be dreadful (Helen Flanagan I'm glaring at you)!

Only 2 out the final 7 (well, final 12 technically) are famous for Reality TV. Hardly a takeover.

100 per cent agree with the OP...couldn't believe it either last series when they drafted in the X Factor Jake AND had the nerve to pitch him against an established woman. Like her or loathe her, Edwina had made a name for herself.

Don't forget George is basically a reality TV star too. His band hasn't exactly been successful enough to make Union J his claim to fame.

I would have agreed if they had not proved as entertaining and pleasant as they've both proved to be. Also, after Ferne's amazing effort tonight It wouldn't bother me at all if she won. I find her more natural than Vicky who always seems (to me anyway) to be more rehearsed.

There is no point tuning into the Vicky Show. It is so boring and I initially liked her, before overdrive. I wish Kieron well and hope both him and Fearne are in the final, though I doubt it.

I thought Helen was one of the best contestants in terms of entertainment. Whether you liked or disliked her she was still memorable.

Everyone breezes through trials these days. I found it more interesting when they found it difficult. There used to be times when a contestant was lucky to get any stars at all, that always gave digital spy something to talk about.

That may be true, but out of the others other than Chris and maybe Kieron who were the 'stars'? There wasn't much competition for them in the first place really.

I sort of still like her, but I get the sense that she's always trying hard to project her personality. What I mean is that she always seems to be self-aware when she makes a quip or comment. It feels like half of what she says has already been prepared and she already knows what she's going to say.
I get the sense that it isn't always spontaneous. It feels like when she comes out with comments it reminds me of when contestants on Blind Date would come out with something that sounds just a little too perfect.

I like her, but the constant attention placed onto her irritates me now.
For example she's done two of those dingo dollar challenges in the last three days.

I prefer Ferne over her now as she seems to be a bit more spontaneous and natural than Vicky. Where when after the first couple of days of them entering the camp it was the other way around.

Anyone whose main job is reality tv makes for boring reality Tv competitions. They bore the pants off me on Celeb BB and Strictly and now IAC is no different. zzzzzzzz.

It's cheap and lazy casting.

Unlike the aged cow wrangler or olympic extreme toilet muncher who are just after a bit of dosh to tidy them over through the saga years the unreality bods are desperate to be...well be..

Can we please go back to torturing vile ex royal butlers and pink loving page 3 ladies, rather than hard faced bods with no talent other than grabing air time to promote what?

`Have to say they have really livened the jungle up.` They are never miserable, always up for things and volunteer. `Bright and smiley. `Full of life.
`George `Georgie `Tony and `Duncan and `Kieron are so dull and boring.

For those who seem put out by Vicky and Ferne I suspect she will see a lot of more of them after its finished .

Probably in mainstream tv as well

Well I'm slowly going off Strictly with all that bl**dy (sorry) Jay love-in all over the forum and the outrageous scoring by the judges, so maybe that might be a good idea.

Me too. It's not the unRTV background that bothers me so much as a particular element of it which thrives on and seems to celebrate stupidity and aggression. My expectations of Vicky and Ferne were very low for that reason and I was prepared to really dislike them, but they've both proved to have a lot more about them than their backgrounds promised/threatened.

Ferne, in particular, is a real breath of fresh air and I've warmed effortlessly to her and her all-round nice, funny, tolerant, gutsy nature. And I really like both of them for their refusal to get involved in the pettiness.

So in this instance, no, they've both demonstrated as far as unRTV people are concerned, that it's best to wait and see rather than make assumptions based on where they've come from.

You keep saying that ... but what do you think will we see them in !

It can only be more of the same really, can't it ... more 'reality' stuff ?

Personally, I think there's too much of that shite on TV as it is

Budge up a bit YL, I'm joining you. I don't even watch Strictly anymore because, as with the jungle, the winner is pre-ordained.

I agree with the cheap part, perhaps not so much "lazy" though as "available", unlike celebs that have a talent and don't need the exposure.

I'm not being funny but I think reality star is a step up from model, and there's been plenty of them in the past. At the end of the day it's all about ratings and I suppose the logic is fans of the reality show will tune in, so they pay for themselves.
