Yes, I agree Applepie (and I'm speaking as one who likes Lady C) - insulting a campmate's family is crossing the line IMO.

I think this is the heart of Lady C's problem, she didn't quake at the put downs etc from Tony et al and reacted quite strongly. I admired her for it.
