Annnnnd the Companion for Series 10 is...
i'd love to see her as the next companion but we can't know that for sure yet, going to wait for more news on this.
That's an old picture now, I think it was taken earlier this year. I assume Georgia was just visiting, as Katy Manning did around the same time.
An interview was released today with Moffat saying he still has only a vague idea of what kind of companion he's going for next, so I'd be surprised if he already chosen an actor.

To me no, I feel like Jenny would overpower The Doctor thats good that the companions show a bit of intiative but I feel like she'd be a big personality and I prefer one madman per TARDIS unless its temporary like Jack in Series 1.
Bit weird to word the thread title, opening post, and poll as though she had actually been announced as the companion, when in actual fact it's just a random assumption based on the fact that she posed for a photo with Capaldi on set, which as others have pointed out has happened with other past cast members.
Probably would have been better worded as 'Could Jenny be the next companion'.
Anyway, I doubt it will be her (especially with other posters above pointing out that the photo in question is actually quite old), but if there were any chance of it, i'd quite like the idea. Would be interesting to see the doctor travelling with a character who is a timelord, but at the same time has the naivety of a human, and is also his daughter.
As I say, I doubt it though. I think they'd much more likely go with someone new, than try to sell 'hey everyone, remember that one episode character from seven years ago' to the mainstream audience.

If, as suggested, they're not starting pre-production on series 10 till April/May, I'd think it highly unlikely whoever it is has been cast yet.
It won't be a returning character, unless it was one deliberately teased (like Oswin was). A new companion is a great jumping on point for Doctor Who. Why waste that opportunity by bringing back some old character that the audience needs knowledge of the show to appreciate.

If they weren't starting filming until late next year, or no full series, then I'd assume they wouldn't have chosen anyone yet, but if it's April/May filming for a full series, I'd be highly surprised if they hadn't picked the actor/actress yet. You only have to look at all the doctors and companions from the last few years, and when they get announced, talking about how long they had to keep their casting secret.
You have to remember that Moffat has known that Jenna would be leaving at the end of series 9 at least since the Last Christmas script was finalised.
