A statement from the BBC reads as follows: “The Strictly Christmas Special, which records next week, will be too early for Sir Bruce Forsyth to have made a full recovery from his recent operation

I find it very odd, does the BBC totally misjudge his popularity with the public, or is he particularly tenacious in trying to get back on the show? I don't know why anyone would want him back presenting. Anyway, hope he gets better soon.

Exactly!

He's hardly had a mention on here this year............. 'cept by Terry of course, "but that doesn't count."

It sickens me this show is being shown in the timeslot it is. This is filler of the lowest order, and should be shown in the middle of the afternoon, in fact shouldn't even be shown on Xmas Day

Brilliant.

Old Terry will be throwing himself off a chair and weeping in outrage.

Or does this board totally misjudge his popularity with the public? Doubt most of them are flipping around going "yippee", "great" and "hoorah" because an old man is ill.

Some of the responses in this thread are quite harsh . Really weird to see so much glee being displayed at this news.

I hope he gets well and I will miss him on the Christmas show.

Bruce is getting over a serious operation and I hope he recovers soon, but at his age, he needs to take things slowly and not rush back to work. Perhaps he should look at this as a sign that he should be taking life more easily.

I must admit I'm glad Bruce isn't presenting the Christmas special, but I wish it were for a nicer reason, such as going off for a relaxing holiday in the sun rather than ill health.

Some people just don't get it that people on the TV are actual, real people just like them and their relations.
Its a bit sad, really.

I don't think anyone is doing that here either. Most are wishing him a swift recovery, but there's no point pretending that he is a asset to the show.

I hope he recovers, of course

But for me there's no denying that the Christmas special will be 100x better without him presenting. The only time I'll have to press mute is for Darcey now!
