I feel the same, Jay really does have a great following, everyone I know who watches Strictly vote for him every week.

One of these days this boy is going to make a mistake with his proxies and several are going to get the boot. And I'm not talking about backing dancers.

Kara, Rachel and St. Jill were superior technical dancers. Jay is very good, though. I just disagree with the thread title.

Ricky Whittle was pretty good , too (except for his sickle feet).

So, let's be specific....

In technical terms (specifically ballroom and latin technique) what is it that is that makes his dancing so much better than all of the previous celebs?

As you can probably guess, I remain to be convinced, but am happy to listen to any arguments.

For me it was Zoe Ball with Ian Waite. She wore a beautiful white dress for the waltz.

It's not that I don't like Jay, he seems lovely and he's a great dancer. I just wish that it wasn't just a forgone conclusion as it would make the show more exciting somehow. That's the bit which slightly annoys me, it's making watching more like catching up with an old series on youtube than a live competition. But there it is, can't deny the boys (mans) appeal.

I can't debate his dancing on the pure technicalities because I confess to not knowing them all that well, but yep, he seems pretty good to me.

I think both Natalie Gumede and Denise Van Outen were probably better technically than Jay is to be honest, much as I like him and think he has developed really well.

For pure technique, I think, in retrospect, Rachel Stevens was the best, certainly in ballroom. I can understand why people pick Natalie Gumede (who was a better performer) but for me her frame in Ballroom was never as good - maybe as a result of her back problems.

I think Jay is destined to win, unless something extraordinary happens.

I agree. I think Jay is up there with them, and he's certainly the best male celebrity we've had in my opinion (though Louis Smith has improved immensely since he did the show), but I don't think he's better than either Kara or Natalie.

Overall I think Kara is still the best celeb dancer Strictly's ever had.
