It's not the only reason she didn't win. I voted for her on three occasions because other than that, I utterly failed to connect with any of her performances apart from her VW, her Charleston and her Showdance.

For me, every other time she stepped on the dance floor I saw a clinically executed, technically brilliant routine with no sense of joy or partnership or emotions - just a polished performance.

Now, clearly, other people did connect with her but that was why I only voted for her a few times during that year and it had nothing to do with her previous dance experience.

Perhaps I held too high expectations from her as, given the fact an injury had prevented her pursuing a professional dance career, I would just have expected to see more joy and engagement with the dance when she performed rather than just a very skilled execution of a routine.

And in comparison to Natalie and other previous contestants, Jay is very definitely not the most ringah of ringahs ever on SCD that would be DvO who actually performed in a professional dance production in the West End even if she "only sat on a chair"

It's difficult on Strictly. You have to stand out from the crowd but not be too OTT.”

Yes, I don't watch soaps, so I didn't have any idea about her. When she was interviewed I always thought she had a good balance of the two, she was enthusiastic, without being too much and also a very hard worker, she would work harder on a dance than Artem.

I have seen people in soaps on interveiws and they say they get called their character's name, get yelled at for doing things as their character in the supermarket and get told they are pregnant or their husband is cheating on them. Some soap fans seem to have a problem with understanding these people are actors at times, but even those who don't, still have the perception of that character in their mind when they see them.

That series inspired such intense fanwarz on here, I look back at it very fondly for that reason.”

Highlighting the point here, Kirsty wasn't paired with Artem, Natalie was.

[quote=SKID1;80600348]Has there ever been a better technical dancer on strictly ?

All praise to Alionia for getting the best out of Jay ,

also maybe the best dance couple ever to grace the dance floor , they are like a unstoppable machine, who can possibly stop them this year ?

Of course there are

I've always gotten the names muddled.

Unlike most, I liked the character Natalie played in Corrie.

No - Natalie Gumede, Kara Tointon, Jill Halfpenny and Rachel Stevens were all better IMO.

I think he's more of a contender for the most lusted after contestant ever. I think it's between Mark Ramprakash, Louis Smith and Jay for that title.

Agree 100%.

Natalie's performances in the final were as good as anything seen on Strictly. If Erin & Colin could just rethink their showdance ......

The past 3 weeks - salsa, tango and rumba - have surely not been samey?

I agree with the comments above Jay is the best male technical dancer ever and i so want him to win this year. Last year i wasnt a fan of any in the final so wasnt bothered but Natalie was robbed the year she was in against abby Natalie should definitely of won. I also think Kara was a great technical dancer and so glad she won. Now its time we get another male dancer winning. Not a fan of Kellie and Kevin. Sick of strictly trying to get him to win by putting him with well known stars and good dancers. Dont like him never have since he danced with Susannah. Strictly trying to make it the clifton show no thanks not a fan of any cliftons. They need to bring back Lilia,Artem and Robin.

Well I found his dance routine lacking in content for him - Aliona was doing most of the dancing and Jay wasn't expressiveness enough for me. I found it all rather lack-lustre.

I would certainly agree with lack-lustre as an ajective Mina.

On first viewing Jay's Rumba was good but on further watching it was superb. When Jay gets it right, which is not every week, he is the best.
