It's not the only reason she didn't win. I voted for her on three occasions because other than that, I utterly failed to connect with any of her performances apart from her VW, her Charleston and her Showdance.
For me, every other time she stepped on the dance floor I saw a clinically executed, technically brilliant routine with no sense of joy or partnership or emotions - just a polished performance.
Now, clearly, other people did connect with her but that was why I only voted for her a few times during that year and it had nothing to do with her previous dance experience.
Perhaps I held too high expectations from her as, given the fact an injury had prevented her pursuing a professional dance career, I would just have expected to see more joy and engagement with the dance when she performed rather than just a very skilled execution of a routine.
And in comparison to Natalie and other previous contestants, Jay is very definitely not the most ringah of ringahs ever on SCD that would be DvO who actually performed in a professional dance production in the West End
even if she "only sat on a chair"
