Candidates proceeding to the final without proving their management skills
What are your opinions on this?
Some people sometimes make the Final Five having only been PM once, and lost that time. This year, Vana is in that position. She was pretty dire on her run as PM, primarily due to the way she treated her 'employees'. However, in my opinion, she's been one of the best performed out with management. Do you think this should be held against her? It's a given that the finalist will be a manager again on the final task. Leah won as PM once in her year, but she wasn't particularly strong. However, she got through to the final, and again she wasn't outstanding as a PM in the final. It's strange how little weight is put on 'management' since the prize change, as that is what they're actually competing. Both Tom and Leah won, and in my opinion, neither proved they were very competent as managers. |

Vana comes across as a very competent person. I hope she is PM next week and proves herself.

I actually don't think Mark was a bad PM though, and Nick and LS seemed to realise that.
Most forgettable candidate to make it to the final 5 in recent years was Francesca in series 9. Lost the only time she was PM and didn't show much skills the rest of the time |

Other than Mark's obvious mistake of sidelining Daniel he did a good job and didn't deserve to be fired

Oh yes, she was this year's Gary. Gary will be so lucky if he makes it to the Final Five.

I'm not sure, are management skills that important when you own the company? Most likely the winner's BP will involve something they are already doing and they will probably "headhunt" people they know, so will already have a working relationship with them.
The trouble with the apprentice is that when your PM you don't really have any power, you can't send someone from the room or sack them for being disruptive. Most people would never argue with their manager/boss, it's their way or the highway. In the show should you try to "side line" someone, you end up looking like a dick, look at Richard and Charleine, and usually should you upset someone, they then go on to be a pain in the ass during the task. It would never happen like that in the real world. |

The thing is with LS popping in 250k of which I'd bet he charges his time back out of it there is not really much money for wages for more than perhaps the winner and an admin assistant or two especially with London prices.
This businesses are so small they can be managed solo and the scaling of them up to global levels in any reasonable timeframe would need a lot more than 250k |

The final task is not really a 'task' at all. They can choose their own 'members' of it. One wonders if Selina will be coming back. The Karma girl did. The late Baggs didnt.
I hope she does. Perhaps a list of what order they will be chosen would be interesting. Its always interesting to see who doesnt come back. I believe the PMs have a choice in this. I liked Francesca and expected her to win. She did have a 'proper' business. I cant see Vana winnning. I doubt she even has a good business plan. She is young and doesnt seem to have done anything till now. The posters here seem to have forgotten how she was in the previous tasks but I am sure LS hasnt. |

Next week I think that whoever losing PM is will be fired (unless it's Richard) Can't call this year's winner. While I don't want Richard to win he is the best candidate so wouldn't complain if he did win But now the prize is an investment from Lord Sugar the favourite never wins. As Helen, Nick, Neil and Roisin will all tell you. If the prize was investment in Baggs's year then I think he would have won |
