I was just reading the "State of the Nation" address by Giifgaff detailing what the year will bring and was quite surprised to read the following:
Quite surprising to see Giffgaff mention them when not even o2 themselves have made much mention, in fact the CEO of o2 was one of the ignorant ones claiming o2 TuGo was a superior service when EE launched WifiCalling.
Quote:
“There’ll also be some disruptive technology arriving – 2016 will see Voice over WiFi and Voice over LTE(4G) making their first real impact on the market and it’s also possible that embedded “soft” SIMs will begin to appear in devices.
All three represent both threats and opportunities for giffgaff but then that’s true for all the other operators too – our job is work out how we avoid the former and get more of the latter to happen for us.
We’re working closely with our colleagues in O2 to make sure we can bring these technical advances to market as soon as the network is able to support them.
