What are the Emu's there for?

Keep seeing them scurrying around and eating but what is the point of having them there?
Was concerned that they were going to be used for food but I doubt (hope) ITV wouldn't stoop that low for controversy?

At the beginning I thought they just wandered in. I wondered why no campmate seemed alarmed.

I expect that like many animals they will sound the alarm if a snake comes into the camp, thus alerting the dossers.
