No, I like them both. Anton has always made me laugh and Katie is a bit headgirlish, but lovely. I would Anton to make the final - as long as it's not at the expense of Georgia & Giovanni.

Anton has come third and fourth though, and in Strictly's current format that would have got him to the final twice!

I think Anton's great; I don't find him annoying at all. Katie's smile is ever so slightly irritating. It reminds me a little bit of Miss Mapp from Mapp and Lucia! But in general, she's not particularly annoying, not compared to various other previous Strictly contestants anyway.

Not yet, but it will come this weekend when they knock out a better dancer.

I'm pretty indifferent to Katie but I loathe Anton more than anyone on TV. I don't care for them in combination really and I'm sick and tired of the pushing of the Anton to win at last storyline.

Don't care what you lot say. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Katie, she is quite possibly the loveliest woman on TV, hope she gets many more roles from her Strictly exposure

They irritate me too, I'm afraid. And Anton is just getting boring with his over the top responses to things.

Anton gets on my nerves no matter who he is dancing with. He is by far the weakest of the professionals

Well that's it really, many people think Anton says it a lot and it's their way of gently taking the mickey out of him. I don't know if he actually does say it a lot actually, but I certainly know what they mean.

In some ways Kanton remind me of a terribly middle class couple out socialising at the works dinner dance. It's all very 'A Bit of a Do', or the Gogglebox posh couple (as a reference for younger viewers). 'Another drink dahling? Chin chin!'”

Thank you Pretzel.
I understand it now.

Yes her nose twitch is very her, false. I remember there was a a tv series I think it was called "Bewitched" where the woman, would twitch her nose when she was going to cast a spell. I think KD must have seen this series and thought it was girly to twitch her nose. I personally think they make a very good couple as I have never warmed to either her or him. He gets on my nerves with his woe is me act, playing on the fact that he has always had poor partners and continually blaming his previous partners for not getting far in the show.

I'm not sure either of them have anything to be smug about. I just think Katie is very self composed and articulate which I quite admire. Anton is a bit of a mixed bag. Sometimes I like him, sometimes I'm critical, but overall I think he is good for the show.

I've always liked Katie Derham as a knowledgeable, intelligent and beautiful woman and was delighted to learn she'd be on Strictly. I certainly don't think of her as being smug. But what a shame that she was partnered with Anton! She did a great week 1 jive and has acquitted herself well in the ballroom dances, but Anton's disdain for Latin dancing has really shown in her other dances (I'll grudgingly give her the rumba, but only just).

For some reason, the Great British Public likes Anton, who is easily the most recognisable pro on the show, so I can understand the 'oh look, Anton's got a proper contender, not the joke contestant - what larks' narrative. It's just wearing thin for me. It will be interesting to see what the judges do if she finds herself in the dance-off with a better couple - I think Katie is marginally better than only Kellie, but otherwise she could be in trouble. No doubt she will do a good foxtrot, but it's not a 'wow' dance in terms of audience appreciation, so they might not get the votes tonight. I personally think she should be the next to go. We'll see.

No, can't say they irritate me. This "smugness" you speak of to me just looks like happy self-confidence, and why should that be wrong. As for the "journey" how is that Anton's fault? And the fact that it's a story in the first place is surely only payback for those hard but well-done years with the joke contestants?

And the fact that it's thought unacceptable to have a 50-year old woman professional is surely more the fault of the thought? We have male celebs who are 50+. Why should they always have to dance with women half their own age?

And if you believe the ordering of Anton's dances is a coincidence.... it might be entirely coincidental that Jive, Cha-cha, Salsa, Paso and Rumba were all cleared in early weeks leaving a run-in to the final of American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Foxtrot and Waltz/ (potentially) Charleston. But equally if it's coincidence it's an extremely fortunate one since it would be hard to think of a better one for Anton's strengths and weaknesses.

But if they get Samba in the semi then it's because theyve thought that's far enough!

i do not like anton, as several years of posting will testify. i dislike his attititude immensely, and his tendency to treat his partners as disposable props in what he imagines are his hilariously funny comedy routines and personal appearances....

i really like katie, she is the whole package - elegant, bright, likeable, down to earth, not to mention gorgeous, and she has (had) potential to become a better dancer than she has.

i am cross that anton has underestimated her until it was far too late, and has therefore not bothered to really help her with technique or to help himself frankly. that said, i think he's belatedly caught on and is at least not treatkng her like a comedy aunt sally that he's been forced by the bbc to drag round the floor to make the public laugh.

they should go this week. actually, they should have gone last week. but i won't mind them staying one more week as long as its not at the expense of helen, anita or jay.

Well Katie Derham is certainly Marmite. I am with the OP on this. Have to admit I have always disliked her appearances on the Proms and on BBC Radio 3, so much so I have to mute her or turn her off. She always seems to think everything is about her, and as my husband (who dislikes her even more than I do) says, every move, every smile seems choreographed and false. Yet I can see that many others take the entirely opposite view, and find her natural and charming. Hey ho! We can't all be the same, but it always seems extraordinary when people express contrary views to one's own, and the temptation is to think "How can they possibly think that?", when they are thinking exactly the same about you. Ms Derham is obviously the best partner Anton has had for years, but I can't see them winning - or to be honest I hope they don't. It is so hard to be unbiased.

I like Katie, she's very elegant. Anton irritates me though and his so called humour.

Same here. I don't dislike any of the last six. I like some more than others but they all have something going for them. I'd love Katie and Anton to dance a sublime foxtrot tonight and get a 10, if only for Anton's reaction.

My ideal final is Helen, Jay, Georgia and Katie.

I agree, coincidence or not, they have a good run of dances left, plays to their strengths (apart from samba which has hopefully been dropped) and they survived the pesky latin weeks.

Dance order is important. I remember all the ringah comments about Jay when the show began and certainly had he had the rhumba early on and the jive later they might not have died out as quickly as they did. His contemporary background will help in his rhumba and I think it will be good, but had it been as early on as his jive people might have started on him. He was lucky to get the jive early since it was brilliant and changed many perceptions of him. I still don't get the love but can recognise he is a lovely mover.

I actually liked Katie before the show started properly but the 'nose wrinkle' gets on my nerves too. Plus the fact that she's paired with my least fav pro and seem to enjoy it means I've really gone off her.
I'll never understand all the Anton love on DS. IMO he is a completely personality/likeability-free zone.
I do think they are the weakest couple left and should go this weekend.

Actually I think there is a lot more love for Anton away from DS - I and all my friends want Anton to win - and the fact that he has a nice partner this year is an added bonus.

He is, and always has been, by FAR my favourite pro - his is the only VT I watch - although I may make an exception for Giovanni who is rather lovely.

Anton has always been boring and irritating with his over the top act, imo. If he got the presenting job on Strictly I would stop watching. Mind you it might be quite funny to watch him falling flat on his face as I don't think he could handle it.

I don't like her that permanent grin strapped to her face is not nice and imo she has a very opinion of herself and she does not take criticism well.
