You have to actively turn the Kid Mode app on. It's off by default. That's why I asked.
Kid mode is updated by the play store. So if you go to App manager, uninstall updates. Disable will become available. At least it is on mine.
You won't be able to uninstall it as its part of the , unless you root your phone. But you'll need to know what other apps are dependent on it.
